“Vulkan has arrived” is something they’d say on the Enterprize when Mister Spawk beamed aboard.

Vulkan is a highly performant, low-level graphics API. Like DirectX, but good and open source.

What this means for the Eevee render engine (and viewport) is much shorter compilation times. I’m talking about ten times faster. Look up the releases notes for better numbers, but that’s the ballpark. All-round display performance should be generally better but it wasn’t exactly a bottleneck before, so…
