The default settings is “only my contacts” so they have to be in your contacts.

The phones have to literally be touching each other, so that’s really close.

You also have to select the images and hit share for pictures.

This feature only stays active if set on contacts only, and if your contacts are stealing your information, you have bigger problems than NameDrop.
