I work in the arts and all these people were claiming to be artists when midjourney and shit came out. Not really dude, you’re just a curator. It’s like saying the guy who runs an animation company who outsources all his labor to korea is an artist. I guess in some weird nebulous way that’s true, but if I give you a pen and a pad and you can’t create something decent for me, then you’re ultimately a shitty artist. This is why even people who do minimal, seemingly simple artwork still study for years in order to understand their medium.
Without that, you’re just a tracer. Someone with no originality and worst of all, no real skill. In skateboard culture, these people were called posers and it is everything wrong with not only arts, but also just people’s social behavior in general.
