I never seen the insides (or outside…) of an elevator so as far as i know they might be just teleporting me to the floor.
Lots of potential to make a conspiracy theory i’d actually believe in as it makes me feel really cool.
It’s the same with houses. They invented houses to lock you in and adjust outside world.
