Where are all you Apple haters when we need you? I was expecting my new iPhone today and just got notified of a 2-3 week delay because “unprecedented demand”
I ordered the day orders open (admittedly evening of) and we were getting excited, planning a dinner and stuff, time to explore the new features …. Now we need to wait?

I hate Apple for their deceptive marketing, refusal to properly implement technical specs, outsized influence on competitors’ designs even when completely unwarranted, totalitarian control on their vertical slice, excessive cost for hardware, privacy violations masked as privacy, and rampant rent seeking behavior.
That doesn’t mean that people don’t still like them. It just means that the anti-consumer and anti-industry behaviors they employ aren’t deal breakers for people even when I think they ought to be.
Go ham, enjoy your phone (whenever you get it) and I’ll enjoy something better for me.
Sounds like Apple did a poor job of anticipating demand.

Preordered the same day orders were opened and the original estimate was for delivery today. I just got the delay notification this morning but looking online it seems widespread

I also ordered a 17 Pro right when orders opened a long with a 17 for my wife. Both were supposed to come today. UPS showed up and dropped just one box, it was my wife’s phone. Tracking now says it will be delivered on Monday. The tracking says it was on the truck so I’m guessing it got mis-scanned at some point and ended up on the wrong truck. More than a little peeved that they won’t deliver it tomorrow though and I need to wait for the next week day (I also go into the office on Mondays and my wife will be at a work event so it’s going to just sit on our porch all day until I get home).
For what it’s worth, this was not my experience.
I ordered the Pro on Saturday last week, and it arrived today. I’m typing on it now, actually.

At least I got my new watch on opening day! It’s amazing how much difference 2mm larger makes.
I use my watch as an alarm clock and my old one was starting to have problems lasting all day and through the night so I at least needed a new battery. However that was 5 generations back so I replaced For the new health sensors and crash detection
