I hate so much how Tesla is trying to monopolize the electric car market while making some of the worst electric cars. Things such as states mandating electric charging ports to include so and so % of Tesla ports make me very down on the future of electric cars which I was already down on as a potentially mass adopted product.

The trend towards subscription services for basic features is garbage and replacing controls which should be easily accessible with a touchscreen is stupid if not outright dangerous.

Also isn’t a Tesla kind of a “premium” vehicle? For mass adoption they should be affordable without all the silly add-ons that will be woefully our of date in 5 years.

I don’t want to own a car that could cost 1k+ dollars to replace the headlights.

I mean, the Tesla port opening up as the defacto standard is going to literally save the EV market in the US from being monopolized by Tesla so I’m not really sure why you would be down about that.

This opens up hundreds of reliably functioning DC chargers to other manufacturers, moving the equation from “completely stupid to buy a non-Tesla” to “sweet, I don’t need to buy a Tesla anymore!” if shopping for a primary vehicle.

As an owner of the Bolt, road-tripping in a Tesla is a breeze compared to the nightmarish hell of other EVs. I would need legitimate brain damage to wake up and say “yeah, gonna drive across the country in my Bolt”.

Why do you think there trying to monopolize the EV market? They’ve released a bunch of usual parents to the industry for free, they’ve been leading the way in the EV industry for a reason.

Lol wtf are you talking about? Tesla makes some of the best electric cars on the market. Having owned one myself for over a year it’s safe to say you have nothing to worry about.

Same, it’s only one anecdote but I’ve had 2 and they are easily the best cars I’ve ever driven. Can we not let the relentless Tesla hate take over Lemmy too?

Man it’s so ridiculous the amount of hate against Tesla that has been brewing out of control on Reddit. You’ll get downvoted into oblivion for only stating a positive opinion or experience with Tesla. I hope over time this will get better on Lemmy.

Yeah it drives me insane. There are PLENTY of valid criticisms against Elon or Tesla, and I have my own. It’s not worth making shit up and it weakens the valid ones.
