Libretube and some Piped frontends are currently down as Google is reportedly “rate limiting” (aka IP banning) these instances according to the Piped Matrix group. A workaround is being implemented, but if you are on Android and are in desperate need of Youtube audio during work like me Newpipe is still running.

You don’t need to do it with every version. I only patch a new version every 6 months. That’s more than enough.

Kinda defeats the purpose (for me at least). I didn’t use revanced but if I recall correctly, to subscribe to channels, you have to use a Google account. I closed all my Google accounts a few years ago, so having apps like Libretube and Newpipe is nice to keep track of new videos from channels I like.

Also it’s still the YouTube app so it comes with their algorithm and the trending stuff I really hate…Unless we can hide it now? With original Vanced we couldn’t I think.

Agreed. Still feels like nobody knows about Vanced’s successor.

its because compared to other (older) solutions, it’s a pain. you gotta download the APK of the manager, then it’s asking you to root your phone or give it an APK of the app you’re trying to crack, so I guess I gotta go hunt for a YouTube APK?

too much work when I can just stop watching YouTube, and for the one video per week that’s unavoidable, make do with my half-brokem version of YouTube Vanced that’s still on my phone.

there are pre-compiled apks, but they aren’t on the official repository, though you seem too lazy to download those aswell.
