  • Before anyone jumps on this guy’s bandwagon cuz its fuck musk sentiment, look at his proposal from a net neutrality perspective. The chairman who opposed passing 2017’s title II net neutrality legislation is proposing more crack downs on everyone’s access to alternate ISP options.

THE FCC HAS AMD ALWAYS WILL BE IN THE POCKET OF THE MAJOR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDERS WHOSE MAIN GOAL IS TO BOTTLENECK EVERYONE INTO ONLY HAVING ACCESS TO THE INTERNET THROUGH ONE PROVIDER FOR AN AREA SO THEY CAN IMPLEMENT POLICIES LIKE BADWIDTH THROTTLING, CENSORSHIP AND ELIMINATING PIRATING CHANNELS. The only defense we have against losing net neutrality is by lowering their customer retention rates when customers jump to other companies. Which is only effective when there aren’t regulations limiting the number of competing providers.

There are plenty of reasons and justifications for saying fuck musk but this is not one that is worth the potential cost to your net neutrality.

  • Or you could just read the first paragraph of an article you are guna put the effort into expressing your opinion over. The chair of the FCC is saying if DODGE guts the FCC under the guise of reducing the operating cost to save on tax revenues then all they will be doing is reducing the country’s access to affordable high speed internet. Subsequently pushing more people to use starlink.

This took more waaaay more time to write than it took to read. Maybe instead of needing information spoon fed to you, you could save others who share this platform the hassle of being your personal chatgpt by simply skimming an article you could see yourself forming enough of an opinion to comment on.🍻

  • It could just be karma whores expanding to other platforms than reddit. Idk if it’s still a thing but there was a time on reddit where people would steal posts, repost old top posts and aquire as much karma as they can on new accounts. Then sell the username to shills so they can push their agenda without looking like an obviously belligerent shill. They might try the same approach on lemmy before realizing karma doesn’t mean shit here which is where you see them deleting their accounts.

While possible I do think it’s a stretch, I also think it would be completely inefficient to try and train any LLM by feeding it data from lemmy. I wanna say the average number of active users on lemmy at any point is around 40,000. Compared to what google says reddit’s avg daily active users which is 52,200,000 users per day, it would seem like a complete waste of resources.

  • Fuck me 10/10 response. Thank you that answered so many of my questions.

Maybe it’s just a coincidence that because I switched to Lemmy almost 2 years ago I started seeing more IT related news and thats why im seeing so many more articles about Nintendo shutting down as much pirated material as they can. Or is it that they only recently started this crusade? If so, do you have any more information as to why they started making this a priority in the past couple years?

  • How is retropie still able to operate? Seems like 9 out of 10 people who buy a raspberry pi are using it with retropie to play retro games. Seems like something that holds that much of the emulator industry share would be targeted by Nintendo.

Subsequently, if I know someone who knows someone who has a retropie for gaming, what’s the worst case scenario that could come from Nintendo shutting down retropie’s ability to provide the means to emulate? Will it be fine as long as the OS isn’t updated any further? Just run the emulators and roms already installed on it as long as no new emulators or roms are added after the possible crack down?

  • It does but they didnt explain. It’s the reduced impact on a person’s brain that makes it less addictive by only blocking pain receptors at periphery locations and not in the brain. Removing the feeling of being high that opiates provide and just numbs the pain.

Journavx, which has been clinically proven to be as effective as opioids in the treatment of acute post-operative pain but with a significantly more favorable side effect profile. The drug blocks pain signals that are only found in the periphery, not in the brain, without the limitations of currently available therapies.
