Am I over-thinking it to be skeeved out by the phrase “blacks” for Trump?

It’s basically saying that their main defining characteristic as a group is their colour rather than anything about who they are culturally.

It would be like a politician here in Canada courting the indigenous vote by holding a rally called “Reds for Pollieve” or something.

I don’t see that really being talked about or mentioned and wonder am I just over-thinking it? Or is it just that it’s just one more fucked up thing that gets buried under a dozen other fucked up things…

I’m not sure what the hotkey is since I rarely use the feature. But in your tool widget (top right of your canvas) there’s the option in there to effect only the origin, only the parent, etc… etc…

Say what you want about the movement and combat smoothness, but I’ve never seen a Mars set game quite like Technomancer. And I’ve never seen a high fantasy RPG that leans quite as bluntly into saying something important about the role of colinizers in our own 18th century.

Big ideas and good games with juuuuust barely too little budget to be amazing.

For the most part, the same ethos that powers the Fediverse is the same ethos that powers all open-source. So naturally the people that would be more keen to adopt it are the people who believe in the Open Source model in general.

I can’t think of anything less right-wing than open source; it’s essentially software communism (“from each according to their ability to each according to their need”) Sharing isn’t a right-wing value.

The basic idea of the moderated debate comes from Roberts Rules (I believe). Person 1 has 2 minutes to make his point. Person two has a minute to rebut. Person one than has another minute to respond to the rebuttal. Etc… Etc… That comes straight from parliamentary procedure, which follows Roberts Rules.

In parliamentary procedure, its moderated by the speaker of the house, but in one on one debates its just a moderator.

Debates are, at their core, very very structured. Something Trump and co. don’t handle well.

Thanks to trump, they think “debate” is just a fancy word for “argument”. They’re too dumb to even know what Robert’s Rules of Order are, let alone ever actually read them or understand how they apply in an actual debate. They just think that mockery and aggressiveness count as “debate strategies” thinking that winning an argument is about making the other person piss down their leg.

They literally can’t handle it when the other person doesn’t actually cower before their insanity.

That’s my strategy as well. I just don’t know how many of us there are that are that committed vs the people who are “temporarily irate” and then go back with their next purchase because its “easier”.

I get that. And, playing the devil’s advocate here…what happens in a couple of years when the time comes to purchase a new Laptop/desktop that comes pre-installed with Windows? Will your current ire and consternation hold up until then, meaning you’ll take the effort…long after this current “trust crisis” is over…to install Linux once again. Or, with this current scandal a faint memory from a few years back, will you just kind of shrug and say “Hey…it’s there, I might as well just go with it.”

I mean no offense, and I by know means want to presume your answer here. But I’d be willing to bet 90% of the people who, in a pique of ire, replace their current windows with a linux distro, won’t bother to do the same when they purchase a new laptop down the road.

I like Krita. But to be honest, after years and years of using GIMP, I ironically have nothing but trouble trying to rewire my brain to do things any other way. The same problem that many people have when moving from Photoshop to GIMP.

Also, i fundamentally need DDS files, which Krita (AFAIK) doesn’t handle.

Well written article. The comparison to child actors and the idea that social media kids have no “home” to go to because the camera is always there really makes a whole lot of sense.

I don’t think that’s an “if” at all. I firmly believe that that’s exactly it.

The same behaviours that we needed to evolve are harmful now that we’ve reached a potential “post-scarcity” stage.

To put it more bluntly, the drive to compete for resources in order to survive is what made us the dominant species. Now that post-scarcity is essentially upon us, our nature is to create artificial scarcity in order to satiate that drive for competition. And it will be the ultimate end of us.

One of my favourite games for the Genesis. It was my introduction to Shadowrun and to this day, I can’t begin to describe how it moulded my conception of cyberpunk and my own writing as a result. It’s one of three games that, in history, has legitimately changed my view of video games (Shadowrun for Genesis, Fallout 3, and XCom Enemy Unknown/Within)

Now, for your questions:

• You’re not imagining the difficulty. I too recently tried playing it on an emulator and found it more difficult than I remember. I think it’s because the slight lag on emulators between firing your pistol and it actually firing it is enough on the emulator that you simply can’t win a fight. This (I’m guessing) is because of modern displays rather than old CRTs that it was designed for, kind of like jumping with Mario feels just a little bit different.
• It’s pretty grindy in some respect. But that’s kind of the reason that it felt so different to me back then. You’re a Shadowrunner. You’re doing jobs. Yes there’s a quest, but it’s one of the first games I remember where you could just ignore it for a while and punch a clock to go hack some corporation if you wanted to.
• Killing innocents is entirely up to you, Chummer.
• Samurai class is the all around’er. But I think Decker is the “canonical” way to play because decking is a fundamental part of the gameplay aesthetic.

I actually don’t think its a “bad” idea to have an AI helper like a copilot or a Gemini on my computer. But I don’t want it integrated into every system. I don’t want it to have any more access than I choose to give it each time I use it.

I can see myself making use of a sandboxed AI, installed kind of like a flatpak or an appimage. I can call it up, ask it to do something for me and if it needs access to something temporarily in order to do it, it can ask nicely and I say sure on an as hoc basis and then shut it down again.
