Cancelled mine recently when i saw the price almost doubled. Only still have Netflix, Dropout, and plex. Netflix is next on the chopping block.

If you haven’t heard of it, you should look up the Elan School. It’s thankfully shut down now, but I imagine there are still places just as bad.
Wtf…i knew it was going to be bad, but immediately ignoring one of the primary rules of firearm safety (always treat a firearm as if it is loaded) was not what I expected.
I figured it was going to be an accidental discharge while unloading.
I got this same email. Of course the only domains I own are .com and .xyz. Going to lock in as many years as I can before September.
As someone who spent a lot of time learning html/css and wordpress to get a site i’m ok with, but not thrilled.
I’d say skip wordpress. I think it’s overkill for a portfolio. Mine is just a personal blog, and i’m about to sign up for the $9 a month Ghost Pro hosting with a free theme. I’m over the plugins and getting nickel and dimed for features.
Like others have mentioned, a static site generator may be good too.
Also, it isn’t open source, but i really like blot.im. I use it for Obsidian.md instead of the built-in publish because it’s a lot cheaper, and it’s close enough in appearance/quality.
EDIT: Actually, it looks like I was wrong. Blot.im appears to be open source too.
I already wanted a Steam Deck, but was saving up for one of the higher tiers. Then I found out how relatively easy it is to buy the cheap one and add an nvme drive. So, now my savings goal is a lot closer.
EDIT: Fixed some typos

I’ve been selfhosting for almost a year, and I’m still on the lookout for anything I can host.
I’ve reached a point where if I don’t have a use for something, i’ll still try to make an unraid template if there isn’t one. Just to install it and try it out. Lol
I want that router, but I don’t have a good reason to give my wife why our RB4011 needs to be upgraded…lol
Are they all posts on lemmy.world? I’m having the same issue, but I assume it is related to the ongoing issues on .world.
Extremely simple! It’s literally just a few screws and unplug the old one and put in the new. Took all of 10 minutes and at least half of that was trying to find my small screwdriver bits. Lol
My use case sounds similar to yours, so I’d second the T480. I got one 7-8 months ago, and it’s been great so far. Only thing I changed was I put in a backlit keyboard.
I don’t know any general laptop communities. At leasr not ones with any activity, but !thinkpad@lemmy.ml seems relatively active.
If you ever need to find a community, https://lemmyverse.net/communities is a decent place to start.
Anecdotal experience incoming…
I used to pump gas in NJ at a Wawa. I got paid around $9 an hour in the early 2000s. At Wawa at least, the gas attendants get paid the same as the inside staff.
Tips were always appreciated, but never expected.
But why? What makes it different than any other service job? I pumped gas in NJ for several years, and it was a decent job all things considered.
I’d like the option for days where i’m in a rush, but definitely don’t want it to be the norm.
I’ve got a Mikrotik RB4011, and I couldn’t be happier with it. It definitely has a learning curve, but once I got it setup how I want, it just works. I’m sure some other options have the same feature, but one of my favorite things is a script I have run every night that emails me a backup.
I’ve only ever had to use it a few times, but having a recent backup of my router on hand all the time is nice.
I would get it from the official site: https://f-droid.org/
There are also other apps you can use to access the f-droid repositories. I personally use Neo Store instead of the f-droid client.

Are you using Firefox by any chance? I have that problem with certain sites in Firefox.
Firefox is my main browser, but the PWA experience isn’t great. I’ve tried Firefox, Chrome, Hermit, and Samsung Internet. So far, the best experience is with Samsung’s browser.
They don’t want to actually read the bible. Just cherry-pick the useful parts.
