Domain specific language is found across all realms of society, even firefighters have words or phrases with a specific meaning (back-burning, pumper, appliance, etc). So maybe its not that some areas are lazy, its just that you haven’t been exposed to their more technical side?

I can’t remember exactly what its called, but something like router NAT loopback is what you want. I’ll have a look around. But if you set it right, things should work properly. It might be a router setting.

4 cores is a bit limiting, but definitely depends on the usage. I only have 1 VM on my NUC, everything else is docker.

I thought all the core processors had VT* extensions, I was using virtualization on my first gen i7. They are very old an inefficient now though.

I5 3470 is old, but its not that bad. Lots of people are homelabing on NUCs which are only very slightly faster. Performance per Watt will be terrible though. Within my company there is a mix of Scrum and Kanban, so Agile != Scrum.

Last time I observed this I was getting the exact same item that I bought being advertised to me constantly, across multiple sites. No variation at all. It was a pair of hiking shoes. If it had then offered me hiking poles or rain coats or anything else that would have been useful, but instead it was the same pair of shoes I had already purchased.

If the ad network had actually suggested useful paired items that i dont already own, then those ads should actually stand out, as they are actually relevant to me.

If its not cost efficient to actually target to the individual (and I dont doubt that it isn’t), im not sure what Paypal is bringing to the table here that Amazon etc can’t already do.

I’m sure thats the theory, and whats being sold to the ad buyers, but my money is on it ending up like the ads you get after buying something from amazon/ebay: same item you just bought.

I dont think there is anything wrong with that, as long as you are setting the expectations right. In some ways, it takes the load off the maintainer, because they dont necessarily have to “fix” your code, they can just rewrite from scratch using your code as inspiration.

Different devs accept different things, and we are all burnt out to some degree.

I think you probably want to start small, i.e, normalise the colors first, and then do your dark mode change, but it really depends.

Touching a foreign codebase is always difficult, even for professional coders. I have found that it usually is a very hard slog for a few weeks or so, and then it will start to click in place. I think the only real shortcut is to ask for help and see if an existing dev can guide you through it.

My impression, and correct me if I am wrong, is that Boeings issues are largely management/culture driven (this may just be the plane side of the business though). The Atlas 5 this is being launched on may have been designed by LM, but it was still built under the same management/culture.

But either way, the Atlas 5 is a very reliable rocket, so the scorn isnt really that deserved.
