  • I know it’s a big issue for many given the bad news and crap Google does, but Mozilla is actively taking away features from Gecko whereas Vivaldi, Microsoft, Google and Samsung are improving chromium. I find it hard to make Firefox behave how I want it to when browsers like Vivaldi or even Edge make it easy.

I know a common sentiment I hear (at least on Reddit) is “Why didn’t so and so’s browser use Gecko?” but when a company or person does, a lot of /r/Firefox and /r/Linux users will get upset that they are forking Firefox instead of adding to Firefox/Gecko.

  • My point is your current original comment is fundamentally flawed.

You add to that flawed example with “You don’t go logging in to other e-mail providers because that is where the people creating the content are.” because not only did it deviated from your original point in the original comment, it has nothing to do with what you’re talking about, nor what is *in your original point. To add to that, email, while federated, is not meant to be accessible to people outside the intended recipient.

Your whole original comment was, “Stop thinking Reddit and start thinking email. You don’t log in to Hotmail with your Gmail address to read mail sent to you from Hotmail.” in which I debunked that claim.

  • Started using Piped/Invid or DDG Duck Player instead of YouTube’s website. I find that I dont waste a bunch of time looking for crappy content.

Likewise, I redirect Reddit and Twitter links to libreddit and nitter anytime I click a search result, link or otherwise tweet or post that was sent to me.

I’ve disabled history (when possible)on services to both protect my privacy from prying eyes and in general, I prefer this. If I bought ibuprofen from Amazon, I don’t need them to continue to push and have my Amazon homepage be a Johnson and Johnson ad.

Likewise with the last comment I posted, using user scripts or Adblock lists that hide usernames or addresses on specific websites; very useful when sharing your screen with someone.

Lastly, seeing what I shared via Google Drive, Photos and my account in general and removing. Some shared links from when I was in jr. high existed and still worked…
