God I swear the American Christians are fucking insane.
I’ve never heard such BS before. At least not from any church I know here in Australia.
Interesting, if it’s a native Wayland app, I’d guess the issue is just gnome problems then - from what I hear gnome is one of the poorest DEs for Wayland use, mainly because they refuse to support things the same way that everyone else agrees to, if at all. And they take a fair amount longer to deliberate and agree how to implement anything they do decide to support.
I’d think of looking at KDE, which is very functional at this point, or a wlroots based Compositor/WM, - hyprland seems like one of the more well supported window managers out of the ones using wlroots.
Let me guess… You’re running an X.Org based WM/DE?
X11 Doesn’t support fractional scaling properly . So some DEs will simulate it by scaling the apps the same way you scale a rasterized image like a PNG or JPEG, and as a result everything looks blurry. You’ll generally also have the same issue with XWayland apps on a Wayland display.
The best way to combat this? Try to use Wayland native apps as much as possible.
2nd best? Use non fractional values for scaling (x1 or x2 instead of x1.25)
Doesn’t mean it won’t either - most people won’t realise the computer is still usable, either by workarounds or installing a different OS - they’ll either trash the PC, recycle or sell it. Or keep using it not caring that its complaining constantly that it’s out of support. (And when they do, it’s “how can I get rid of this annoying error” not “how can I update this?” - they probably didn’t even read the error - and god forbid you manage to do the update, they won’t like it if you do)
Hell most people don’t even know Linux even exists, and a lot of them couldn’t even tell me what their operating system name is.
I’ve had relatives that try to ask what’s going on and say “I have 11” without elaborating that it’s windows 11. I remember years ago my aunt said I have version 97. Referring to, at the time the totally unrelated fact that she had Office 97 installed on her winXP machine. Took me ages to work out what she actually meant.
Nope, you have to obtain the decryption keys yourself - I spent hours hunting around online for a set of console keys and firmware dump to get the emulator working on my steam deck.
If you own a moddable switch you can dump the keys legally, but I don’t plan on doing that any time soon.
I recognise that internet router on the right. That looks like the “smart router” Telstra gives their customers - we have one we used to use back when we had Telstra cable. It’s currently playing the duty of an Ethernet switch for dad’s office.
To me, they can keep what they’ve already got from me, they just won’t get any more directly from me- I don’t trust them to honour data deletion requests properly anyway.
I’ve already deleted my account, and never put a deletion request beforehand. And from what I hear you have to do it before you delete your account for them to even give you a chance of honouring the deletion request.
Nah, I can’t get the scan lines to look right with my cheap ass TV. Just basically updated the firmware and left everything on Default - I don’t even change the upscaling settings as when I do it seems to make things all blurry
I have an OSSC, works wonderful with default settings for my PS2
Yeah, it’s not really teaching kids not to use it, but it will be a great teacher for how to bypass internet blocks. Young people already lie about their age on platforms, I mean I did that when I was younger.
It’s only a few steps further to change DNS or VPN to an area that allows underage and doesn’t require strict age verification.
We really need to get these guys out of the office. Why are we caring about impeaching presidents, we need to keep a close eye, catch them doing illegal shit and impeach the supreme court justices. Obviously hold off until the US has a president that can appoint good, fair judges - I don’t believe Trump is capable of that, and Biden is at best borderline capable.
Huh, I didn’t know that. Well that’s fucked.
I guess it makes some sense though - you’d want some form of backing if you’re going against the establishment, so why not the enemy of the one you’re going against?
I already thought that none of them really deserved the prize, but I guess I probably shouldn’t have been ranking them.
Wat.
The only one who even remotely deserves the peace prize is Assange.
The rest have all been sowing more division among lines than bringing people together. At least Wikileaks was invented to inform the public about shady shit going on in government.
That said it’s not necessarily been a good thing as wars can easily happen directly as a result of leaked documents. Every government has secrets. And sometimes rooting out corruption can be pretty damned violent.
However Assange never meant to sow discord, only to inform people of problems and issues that were kept under wraps - the people deserved to know this information, even if it resulted in violent rioting.

I finally switched to AMD on my main desktop. Holy crap does it just work. I went straight for hyprland over my previous XFCE based desktop.
I enjoy tinkering so having some programs that just work and some that need a little push is great for me. Gaming is pretty easy these days - games that straight up don’t run I just don’t buy, and protonDB or even the proton issue tracker and wineDB for tips and tricks.
However with DEs I tend to set one up, and keep it how I set it up. I had XFCE for a total of 3 years with no changes. Hopefully I can do the same with Hyprland. I usually only try a new one when reinstalling Linux.
In a same but more drastic vein, you’d have to chop me up and shit In my corpse before I switch back to windows on my home PCs, it’s bad enough I have to use win10 at work imo (I ain’t installing win11 there untill I’m forced to)
I used to play the original PoTC version
If you’re into MMO and jack sparrow- The Legend of Pirates Online - a remake of an old PoTC online game is a thing
We should probably change it to “American style capitalism” as the behaviour seems to have either originated or mainlined in America first. But it’s seen in most global and domestic software companies around the globe today.
