I agree games often come with features that are worthy of complaint. I really don’t think the parry feature that this author speaks on is one of them though. At least not in their given examples. I’ll admit I have not yet played Clair Obscur, but the other example given was of Dishonored, a game the author claims is beloved to them. I’ve played Dishonored 1 and 2 several times over. It is an extremely re-playable series because it offers players a multitude of ways to go about each mission. The parry feature of that game is in no way necessary for many play styles. Forgetting the fact that you can play through the game as a pacifist, parrying isn’t even necessary if you wanted to charge every enemy head on as a blood-thirsty maniac.
The author talks about i-frames and hitboxes as if those concepts can’t enter into a conversation with casual gamers. Its ok, if you want to play a game that doesn’t require a lot of thought when it comes to those two things, but there are tons of games that fit that bill. Even ones that have parry mechanics like Batman and Spiderman games. It’s the equivalent of saying that double jumping is a bad mechanic because its not physically possible in real life, so it doesn’t belong in video games… Oh wait the same author said that too! Under a picture of Elden Ring of all games!
tldr; The author specifically complains about 100% optional mechanics that in no way affect one’s ability to play the game otherwise.
I dont understand why some people think every video game should be catered to their playstyle preferences. It’s ok to not like every single video game. It’s ok if some people like video games that you dont like. Just play what you like and ignore the rest. It’s so easy.
To be fair, even some of the other characters in the games/movies recognize this and call her out for it.
When i first started playing Dark Souls i always equipped my characters with shields. I played all 3 games several times through with shields. One playthrough I decided to challenge myself and not use shields, only relying on dodging attacks. Doing so also opened up my offhand for using a staff or talisman (the equivalent of seals in Elden Ring). I have never used a shield in any Dark Souls game or Elden Ring since.
Dark Souls 2 introduced a feature called power stance. I wont go into go into great detail about it here, but tnere are many guides online that explain how it works. The short version is that it allows you to dual wield weapons from of the same category. You equip them in each hand, level up your character with the correct stats, then you open character up to unique move sets and really high damage.
Power stance wasn’t included in Dark Souls 3, but it was reintroduced in Elden Ring and is very fun to use. Some of my favorite weapons to power stance with are: daggers, twinblades, reapers, rapiers, and even heavy rapiers. I wouldn’t say power stancing is the equivalent to playing on easy mode. The movesets are unique and take some practice to use effectively. There are also some cons, like not having a shield or magic casting weapon in either hand. There is no way to do a jumping heavy attack using both weapons. Also stamina depletes much quicker. One of the greatest pros though, is that each weapon can be equipped with different status effects like bleed/poison or holy/frost.
If you look up or are suggested specific builds, be open to tweaking them to your liking. Higher numbers for damage output are obviously good, but are only so useful if the weapon you are using is right for you. Keep trying different weapon types until something sticks. Also, level up several different weapon types because different enemies have different resistances and weaknesses. Slashing weapons aren’t as effective against rock enemies as hammers are. Sometimes these resistances aren’t obvious so dont be afraid to use online wikis to look up some info.
Lastly, dont neglect summon pools! Some people will try to convince you that summon pools are for noobs, and it only counts as a win if you solo a boss. That’s not true in the slightest. Every item/feature in the game was added with the intention that players will use them. Same goes for spirit ashes. Each spirit ash is very different from the next. Some will follow you around, some will sit in one spot, some regenerate health, some inflict status effects on enemies, etc. If you or anyone else is on PC feel free to shoot me a DM and we can set up a coop session!
Android users do not need an app store to install apps onto their devices. Apple not only requires it, but only offers their own storefront and if i remember correctly, they take about 30% of all sales. Companies used to get around that by redirecting customers to a website that doesn’t use the app store to make purchases. Apple then banned those apps from their store making them no longer available to iPhone users. This has nothing to do with allowing people to install incompatible applications on apple devices.
I’m not even aware of any ps3/xbox360 games that are fully contained on discord. Maybe Orange Box?
Contained in the app you use, video you watch, article you read, page of a book, sentence in a paragraph, etc.
My penis is very difficult arduous
I have no idea how to begin measuring that.
Any of that can happen just by stepping outside of your house.
By that logic no person in the world is talented at anything lol. I don’t disagree with the idea that people are allowed to hold the opinion Kanye has never been a good artist, but I’m not sure what point you’re trying to go for.
A McChicken is definitely not worth more than $1 lol
Peggle! It’s a very fun and unique brickbreaker with lots of silly and cute characters, art, and music.
Not super girly/pink overall, but can be enjoyed by pretty much anyone.
Can you link to these facts? I admit I have no doubt in my mind the website is at best a parody and at worst bullshit. But I feel I’m open minded enough that I’ll take a look at any facts you have to present. I tried to take a look for myself but everything I found on that sight seems like old man yelling at clouds.
Also I’m curious as to what you mean when you say I can cherrypick all I want? What is that in reference to?
I found a thread with 10 reasons not to trust Wikipedia. One of the reasons listed is citogenesis. Under that they write 3 paragraphs in which they first say most people don’t know what citogensis is. In the remainder of the 3 paragraphs they never explain what it is. I cant tell if that is a parody site or not.
This is a part of how any business is valued. You don’t just buy the building, stock, brand name, etc. You also buy the customer base. Any place you’ve ever done business with that later got sold, has made you a part of the sale technically.
I learned how to play with keyboard and mouse with World of Warcraft. Current retail WoW is terrible in my opinion but plenty of good private servers exist. Turtle WoW is great. MMOs do use more than just the basic wasd keys, but aside from those and the 1-0 keys, there is no rush to mash keys quickly. The rest of the keyboard is basically just hot keys to open up windows and menus. It helped me learn to be versatile with keyboard/mouse without being punishing when starting out.
The only thing I can think of that Word does better, is making equations. LibreOffice works ok, but it’s more clunky. I still use it over Word because it runs much faster on my PC
There are a lot of other reasons to pirate content besides disagreeing with pricing. I get that the price point of this game is the subject here but I doubt 99% of pirates are at a disagreement over pricing.
