Can anyone tell me if it’s worth playing now, if you never played those games when they came out and don’t feel nostalgia while playing them?

And now we know why the original was delisted on steam. Don’t buy into this crap. Buy the original on gog for 1,50€
I played through the invincible. Great story, visuals and voice acting. I am however reminded, that walking simulators aren’t really games. The whole thing should have been a mini series.
That’s really surprising to read. The game has been been described a solidly mid by every review outlet. Does portability really offset the repetitiveness by that much?
My guess is that people disagree with propagating the delusion that pasting that link in every comment helps with stopping AI from feeding on your input.
I get the feeling you’re just being contrarian on purpose now. Most, if not all games released on win 7 will still run on win 7 now, and will continue doing so forever, period. That’s exactly why OP is asking for cool games from that era.
Actually the opposite is true. I don’t know of a single game where the devs patched out something so it stops working on the OS it released on.
Well, games used to and still run on MS DOS, so Win 7 really isn’t an issue.
Have you really never heard of GOG? It’s an awesome platform. They allow you to actually buy games so you can 100% own them drm free. No Steam or whatever other game launcher is needed. Also they specialize in older games, so it’s perfect for this use case.
I think you severely underestimate how our devices are networked nowadays. It’s not about the device directly next to you. It’s about what is beeing agreggated in the back end. Google and Apple have an extensive BT and Wifi map that can locate specific devices very accurately at all times. Which of course is enriched with other device data from installed apps, like where you shop, what you shop, maybe even vitals from your smartwatch etc. to create a scarily accurate persona attached to your name. That’s on a whole other level than what you can do with a license plate.
That being sad I respect your choice as well. Being privacy conscientious is a bit of work.
It’s not the music, it’s location data. BT broadcasts a unique ID to your device. Every device with BT will receive that ID to check if it knows you. That’s inherent to the protocol and works as designed. Apps will be able to learn yours and other peoples location that way. That’s basically how Apples Airtag network operates.
I know, it’s defo more comfortable. Like I said, I just can’t deal with the privacy issues related to BT. If there were earbuds supporting some kind of privacy friendly wireless protocol, I’d use them.
Good writeup. I’m a huge fan of Xenogears and actually have a playthrough going that I pick up when I feel nostalgic (that and legend of the dragoon). I tried the Xenoblade games but they couldn’t live up to that quality IMO. A big reason for this is the combat system. Nothing beats turn based combat and I’ll die on that hill.
Read the comments. Plenty of good reasons to want a jack.
Redmi Note 7. It’s pretty old. Luckily the batteries are still ok.
Still a requirement for me. I listen to music and podcasts while I run, and I run a lot. But I don’t want to deal with the privacy issues of leaving my BT on when I leave home. And USB dongles physical connections just aren’t as reliable with a lot of motion.
Linux mobile is a necessity. Apple is regularly dragged to court because of their walled garden bullshit and Google tries to catch up to them in that regard
Also running around with Bluetooth enabled on your phone is a privacy hazard.
I think it also depends on the demographic of the game. As a kid I had no issues dropping 4+ hours a day on a game. That doesn’t work for adults. And being “stuck” on the same story for months can be frustrating, because other great games will be bound to come out in that time. BG3 is a good example. Great game. But I’m already eyeing my next games and after 50 hours I’m just about halfway through and some parts start to feel like a chore.
I think you’re hitting the nail on the head. A lot of publishers are blatantly misusing EA to put out an unfinished piece of software to socialize the testing, and hope for a more understanding playerbase because of the EA status. Not only is it manipulative, it also skews reception like it does here. Personally, I categorically skip all EA because I only buy finished products. Doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be interested in a good tribes game.
