Normally I welcome people with different opinions, but I truly believe that people still following Trump are absolutely in the wrong. He is a foul, broken, weird human, and his goals are to fuck up all of our lives (yes, yours too) so that he and a dozen others can have money and power. This is as clear, proven, and obvious as it is reading the history books about prior dictators, so I have zero sympathy or respect for seemingly intelligent people who still support him.

We’re supposed to go to Tampa this weekend for a tattoo. In the grand scheme of things I know, we’ve got very little to worry about, but I am wondering if we should just cancel now, or if there’s a chance of Tampa being back online by Friday.

I thought it was quite good once upon a time.

I work for an AI company that’s dying out. We’re trying to charge companies $30k a year and upwards for basically chatgpt plus a few shoddily built integrations. You can build the same things we’re doing with Zapier, at around $35 a month. The management are baffled as to why we’re not closing any of our deals, and it’s SO obvious to me - we’re too fucking expensive and there’s nothing unique with our service.

Oh yeah, the condescending “please unplug me when done!” signs near the toaster… or trying to use the hot tub and having to read pages of stuff just to get in some warm water. We stayed at one once that made us add conditioning tablets to the hot tub at a certain time each day. Nah, this is your house, you fucking take care of it, I just want to use it.

Airbnb is expensive. It also is often awkward, I always seem to get places where the owner wants to give me a tour of the place when I show up. Checkout time is always a massive stress, trying to figure out where the outside bin is, how to start the dishwasher, and remembering to return all the furniture to it’s original position, lest we break a rule and lose our deposit. You don’t get mini bars or room service or daily housekeeping, and you have no idea if the host is secretly keeping tabs on you somehow. It’s just so much more work to stay at an Airbnb than a hotel, with none of the cost benefits as a trade off.

The other week we stayed at a Hilton and I checked in and out without speaking to a soul (via the app). It’s a no brainer at this point.

That’s a wild take, thanks for writing it up. I’m in Tennessee, and it feels like our state isn’t as shrewd as that, but I could be wrong.

Yep, it’s the road sign part that gets me confused. I live in Tennessee. I suppose that makes some sense but I still don’t know if I understand why it needs a sign vs just having an ordinance and fining people who don’t follow it. In my brain, road signs are for things you might need to know in the spur of the moment. It’s not like people are going “Whoops I just built an unapproved driveway!”

I wandered around a local park in Tennessee yesterday (as a chronically dehydrated and adapted person) and I drank 2 ltrs of water in a couple of hours and was still fucking dying.

On the flip side, I was up and working out three days after my bisalp. And my friend who got a vasectomy was bedridden for a week. I think they’re pretty comparable, it’s just a game of rock paper scissors whether you’ll have the easy or the hard recovery.

It’s already super hard. I was lucky and found a doctor who understood, but I’m not young. People in their 20s face a whole bunch of bullshit, enough to get in the way and prevent them having the procedure. It’s fucked.
