Hi! I’m British, I like music (grime, garage, hip-hop, R&B, and more!). I like art, culture, history, politics, & doomscrolling memes.
Also a touch of programming :)

If you’re on desktop, use https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/469273-lemmy-universal-link-switcher it’ll automatically rewrite lemmy links so they match your home instance.
You can also paste the link in your lemmy search bar, it should find the post on your instance for you.

I don’t see that on my front-page. You need to curate your own experience on Lemmy just like you do on Reddit. Plenty of Lemmy isn’t metaposting
https://lemmyverse.net/communities?order=active&nsfw=null - list of communities in Lemmy
https://lemmy.world/post/2216085 - list of casual communities to subscribe to to get you started.
if you browse c/all you’re going to see a lot of annoying trash you aren’t interesting in, same as Reddit.

Some instances don’t allow it, lemmy.world does. Probably not doable in the apps yet so do it in-browser.

Yes
Submissions is a shit thing to paywall imo
you can mod users from other instances
There’s disinformation all over the internet, I block it and get on with my life.
They suggested to me that I block their community but I will not because that is how you get a cesspit of an instance
Who cares? Just block it and carry on as normal. What other people do doesn’t effect your enjoyment of lemmy at all.
Better yet, curate your own homefeed with subscriptions.
It is, but it’s the type of thing you pop in every now and then and place a pixel, and look at all the updated art that has occurred in the meantime. Everyone’s using the same canvas.
it’s a live, collaborative art project. On reddit, you’d have hundreds/thousands of people all contributing at once.
you have a blank page, you click on page to place coloured pixel. Wait 5 mins to place another.
I’m 10 years, I haven’t left Reddit completely but I’ve definitely started using it significantly less
Thought I’d repost this over here too, seems relevant.
