One use for a phone book was to prop a little kid in a regular chair so they could eat at the table. Like, after they outgrew a baby highchair and could balance on their own. Also you could prove your strength by ripping one in half.

As an old person with my same old spouse, I’m glad it didn’t have to end as soon as we got here. We’re going to continue growing older and older together, because as much as getting old sucks, it would be worse all alone.
If I have a bulky item to discard, I call 311 or use the My311 app to arrange city pickup, and put it by the curb the day before. It’s my hope that none will still be there by the time the truck arrives. Because that means it’s being used by someone, which is better for everyone. If it’s a neighbor, that’s cool too.

I remember being told even horses can’t get nourishment from straw. But it has other uses. Mixed with mud it can make bricks, it can be burned for ash, it absorbs gross fluids, it can provide padding and insulation.

It’s definitely an achievement but like all millionaires there’s some “cheating” going on: a lot of those words are repeats! Open any book at random and count how many "the"s there are on the two pages!

(By the way, if you have a pre-reading toddler, reading a storybook aloud with your finger under the words and stopping to let them read all the "the"s is an empowering way to start.)
I see your point but for a man who imposed his choices on others and robbed them of theirs I’d like him to experience helplessness. And I don’t think it’s fair to ask the other inmates or guards to do that for us, further brutalizing their own souls.
Of course, he’s already mentally locked in to the “I’m the only victim here” mindset. Nothing will change that, so I guess all we can do is keep him out of the lives of the survivors.

I’m amazed he knows how to use a litterbox and not just poop everywhere. That’s probably how he earned his nice rug!
