Almost everyone I know chooses to not learn some random common skill. Not sure it’s typically reasonable to call it “learned helplessness”

Depends where you live. I have friends who aren’t comfortable driving, so hence never drive.
Nothing wrong with that, better than accidentally killing someone someday.
But if you live somewhere without decent public transit and/or cycling infrastructure, you may not have a choice :/
Yes, seemingly every commenter
It’s not a non-profit like Mastodon so, seems inevitable
It surly can’t avoid having ads permanently tho?
I assume they’re just burning cash rn but will eventually need to have sustainable income. Alternatively Mastodon is an actual non-profit, it doesn’t need to have the same type of income
To be fair, the .ml version is the largest so you’ll inevitably see a mix of both thoughtful comments, and horribly stupid comments.
I would recommend completely ignoring what Instance people/communities are hosted on
What a depressing story
Smart Monitor is the same as a Smart TV, not surprised
One recommendation is a food tracking app. Personally I use MacroFactor, which gives custom calorie intake recommendations based on how fast/slow you’re losing/gaining weight.
This is great as it allows you to select a slow, healthy, sustainable weight loss speed and the calories are simply adjusted to match that (weighing in regularly will be necessary)
As a complete noob trying to make A TrueNAS server, none and then suddenly lots when idk how to fix something that broke
I’m too young to know what Bluetooth was like 20yrs ago, can anyone elucidate?
I’m in Canada, this would mostly be free
Isn’t it really expensive in a lot of places?
Yea sadly the kid was an aggressor here
But the cops should be using tazers or something non-lethal to deal with this kinda altercation
I run Nextcloud on an old laptop (i5-8500h) and tbh I find it super fast and responsive. I’ve barely done any tinkering or customization
Can someone with more knowledge than me explain how this might differ from Canada’s system
Controversial thought maybe, but I indeed have many friends who should and could afford to save, and choose not to.
None of these friends are wealthy or have high salary’s, they’re just bad with money
Not quite that expensive but, my LTT Water bottle is super nice tbh, no regrets
Well to be fair, a perpetual license for media/news wouldn’t make sense
