“There’s no overarching policy banning you” /=/ “You’re welcome where decent people frequent”
If you have a sense of pattern recognition, I’m sure you’ll realize this. Eventually.
Cripple. History Major. Vaguely Left-Wing.
Alt of PugJesus for ensuring Fediverse compatibility and shit
“There’s no overarching policy banning you” /=/ “You’re welcome where decent people frequent”

In general one shouldn’t be welcoming to authoritarians, no.
I would point out that CNN has become increasingly right leaning this past decade, but I recognize your username as one of the unfortunate few right-wing types that has inexplicably decided to dip your toes into the Fediverse.
Don’t really think you’re welcome here.
You think the left could somehow do worse than biden.
Yes, the left could electorally do worse than Biden, because I live in a very right-wing country. Sorry that you don’t pay attention to US affairs.
You suspect that progressives could possibly do worse than your decrepit neoliberal king. How is that an incorrect reading of your post?
That’s not what ‘view with suspicion’ means. Don’t worry - my opinion of your intellectual honesty isn’t any higher than my opinion of your reading comprehension.
Of course you view the left with suspicion.
In fact, I’m filled with the suspicion that Bernie or another progressive Dem would be in the same spot, or worse, as Biden is currently.
Stellar reading comprehension, as always.
At the moment, no, because Bernie or another progressive Democrat isn’t in the spotlight.
If Bernie or another progressive took Biden’s place?
I’m not entirely discounting the idea that the American people could surprise me. But talking to ordinary voters, I’m not exactly filled with hope that there’s a secret cabal of super-compassionate left wing votes waiting to be activated by the right candidate. In fact, I’m filled with the suspicion that Bernie or another progressive Dem would be in the same spot, or worse, as Biden is currently.
And regardless of whether a progressive would perform better electorally, the fact remains that Trump is not a valid alternative to anyone with any hint of foresight.
Ernest said he was handing over the reigns to someone else soon. I’d like to give them a chance before I bail on Kbin. I really like Kbin.
I’m gonna give Kbin a little while longer to get its shit together, but if need be, I’ll swap to Lemmy.world in the near future.
Cool, yeah, let’s ‘teach them a lesson’ by going deeper into fascism, that really worked the past ten times we’ve done it.
Both of them have upvoted posts in the past 15 hours.

ke-rist. What a shitshow.
Was it nerves? Was it a cold? Was it not enough Mountain Dew? Regardless, the man needed that energy last night, not today.
People keep disregarding the substance of his arguments
Speaking as someone who thinks that much of the doomerism around the debate is premature…
These debates aren’t about substance. They’re about optics. And Biden didn’t put on a good show last night. The only saving grace is that he was up against Trump.
The frightening realisation to take away is that most people don’t have a visceral horror of fascism in the way that progressives on Mastodon do.
Oh, don’t worry. Many of the people on the Fediverse don’t have a visceral horror of fascism either. To them it’s “Both sides are fascist” because otherwise they might feel uncomfortable letting Trump win, and wouldn’t feeling uncomfortable about that just be awful.
Uh, I don’t exactly know how you square that with the large number of countries which successfully overthrew their own dictators in the past century.
Death sentence does not, and has never, worked as a deterrent.
The death penalty doesn’t work on irrational actors - ie the desperate and the mentally unwell. Those who commit most crimes. The death penalty as a deterrent to rational actors (such as opportunistic politicians) is very much part of the mental calculus that goes into decision-making.
It’s also super fucked to say “sometimes you gotta kill a guy cause too many people agree with him.”
No, that’s actually pretty normal. People agreeing with genocidal dictators is a bad thing, and taking out the dictator is greatly preferable to taking out all the people who agree.
