  • You’re getting down voted but you’re right. I don’t think people realize that most tires are now made from synthetic rubber, AKA plastic.

Also someone tried to disprove you by posting a list with ICE trucks being as heavy as EV cars. Like what? Of course trucks are heavier. EV Trucks are even heavier than that and an EV subcompact will be much heavier than an ICE compact. Also everyone is talking about how trucks and SUVs are getting heavier and bigger. So not sure what they mean by “we never talk about this with trucks!”

  • It doesn’t. Pointing out the contradictions in fascism doesn’t stop fascism because they don’t care about contradictionss. They care about enforcing an authoritarian ideology on everyone, and to that end everything is permissable. As long as they’re still intent on securing power, their followers don’t care. It’s not about being right or making sense. It’s about seizing power by any means. In a democracy, that means saying whatever bullshit you have to to keep your followers engaged.

Making fun of them for their contradictions does nothing to stop them. Not taking fascist movements seriously and expecting them to go away because their beliefs are silly is what Germany did when Hitler was rising to power. It’s not a good strategy.

  • This is not the result of a prolonged investigation. It’s the result of shifting precedent from a neoliberal, Chicago School, interpretation to a more “new deal” era interpretation of monopoly laws. For the last 30 years, monopolies could only be broken up if the corporation bought other companies "with the intention of of forming a “monopoly.” We literally had to get rid of all the followers of the Chicago School from the government and replace them with people that aren’t as friendly to corporations.

Basically, think of companies forming monopolies as drunk driving. If a court of law were to determine drunk driving manslaughter cases like they’ve been determining monopoly cases, you’d have to prove that the drunk driver left his house with the intention of killing someone inna drunk driving accident. So they’d always be able to say, “well I didn’t leave the house thinking I’d kill someone!” And get away of it. That’s how companies and the judicial system have been treating monopoly laws.
