Because making a game like BG3 takes a crazy amount of time and skill. Things most studios dont have in droves. I care about great games, too. But I also know not every game needs to be BG3. Most studios physically cannot produce that.

BG3 really shouldn’t be a baseline for anything. That is a unicorn. Born of straight up magic and passion despite of the monetized environment around it. They had the skill, the means, and the will to pull that off and it paid dividends. I really wouldnt expect even the same dev to do that again. It’d be cool if they did but to have that as the baseline expectation going forward? You’ll just be disappointed.
