Conservative / fascist leaders deserve it, the rest of us do not. The kids who were too young to vote, the leftists who fight against fascism, and the workers who don’t have the time to follow politics do not deserve any of what is to come.

Partly. The DNC forcing Harris to adopt conservative talking points / abandon the Tim Walz progressive policies was also a massive blow to her base. You can’t spend 8 years comparing Republicans to Nazis and then promise to put them on your cabinet and to continue their racist border policy. The DNC forced Harris to listen to donors over voters and this is the end result
For now. But the whole world consumes US media which is allowing fascism to spread like a malignant cancer
Fellow millennial here and I’d say the common culture of the past that made us feel stupid for not knowing certain famous people is mostly dead. Society is so splintered in what media we consume that even my friends with very similar interests consume different games, movies, books, music, etc.
I often think everyone should be an organ donor by default and have to opt out rather than opt in, but Jesus, stories like this make me reconsider.
Sort of like how it is illegal for companies to fire or mistreat workers for trying to unionize?
The uncomfortable truth is that our laws protect the rich (including their companies), but rarely bind them and bind workers, but rarely protect us.
The mentality that the future is always someone else’s problem is proving to be the biggest weakness of capitalism and our species.
The US only have right wing parties. Neolib dems and fascist Repubs are both right wing parties.
80% seems too high, but the US Surgeon General declared a loneliness epidemic https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/surgeon-general-social-connection-advisory.pdf
And Gallup claims that 29% of Americans have been diagnosed with depression at one point: https://news.gallup.com/poll/505745/depression-rates-reach-new-highs.aspx
So… That is not good. It is almost like humans evolved to live in tight knit, walkable communities.
I disagree. Cheato-Mussolini’s brand of fascism might be uniquely his own, but fascists are like cockroachs so there will always be another to replace Trump after he is gone.

I feel I am getting rejected by positions that are way below my qualifications.
Also below your pay grade, that’s most likely why.
You’re not wrong, but it is almost comical how stupid this situation has become: new grads aren’t allowed to work because they don’t have experience, but experts are also being denied work because they have too much experience??? It makes no storming sense.
America is so different from when I was a child. Late stage capitalism is destroying our once great national like a malignant brain tumor and it is painful to watch
I am pretty sure working from home has proven to be more productive, so I think other factors are at play here. I worry that returning to the office might be the only way to keep the capitalists from trying to send our jobs over to poorer nations. If the tapeworms think the job needs to be done face to face then it is much hardet to send those jobs to India or S. America.
I really think that Germany has too much power over EU. Does this make me racist with Germans?
Doesn’t Germany have the largest population of all EU countries? It makes sense that the country with the largest population and largest economy might also have more influence than lower population countries.
Everything the US does starts to make sense when you realize the US government is fully owned by lobbyists and wealthy donors. The Military Industrial Complex is a trillion dollar for-profit industry with the deepest pockets in the world. The capitalists who profit from it effectively own our country.
Do German CS programs offer mentorship where professors will actually give you feedback on how your code could be improved? My US CS program offered nothing of the sort. As long as the program worked I got full credit, but now I am worried I might have developed bad practices / habits.
I hate to admit this… But, I am a CS grad from a good US university and my CS program never taught us how to use tools like valgrind either. Our projects were graded entirely based on if they worked and how neat the code looked at a glance.
I would agree that writing does nothing, they probably throw it away without even reading it, but talking to real people who actually want to improve things (like political assistants) can make a difference.
The Heritage Foundation also wrote something like 80% of the policies that were passed under Reagan. I wish journalists would talk about that more. Think tanks for the 1% shouldn’t be writing our laws
