I saw a theory the other day that there was no tip from an McDonald’s employee. The authorities might’ve used some illegal surveillance to find him and just said it was a tip from an employee to avoid acknowledging that.

Everything you just said describes the behavior of irresponsible kids. I not arguing that we should stop kids from doing all that. I agree that it is a part of growing up. I’m arguing that they should not be able to sign legal contracts, such as marriage, that will have a major impact on their lives without truly understanding it. That’s the best case scenario. There are much worse people who take advantage of such lax laws.
So I am. In my opinion people should wait even longer than that. I remember when I was 18. I was an idiot just starting to learn about how to live in the world, and I’d say a significant percentage of the people my age were more reckless than even me. Any big decision one has to make at that age is at best uninformed.
Sure. I slammed anyone who thinks kids are mature enough to marry. There’s plenty of states here in the US that fit the bill too.
Its not really a culture issue though. In the US we decided on 18 because that’s the age it is believed that people can make decisions for themselves. Personally I think it should probably be higher. In other countries that have a lower age of consent don’t do it because they think the kids are mature enough to make that decision. They do it because they view the kids as similar to slaves who have to do what they are told. If it is a culture thing, then should culture be enforced through threat of death i.e. honor killings? They just use culture as an excuse to be shitty.

What I mean is that people will usually see dogs as more innocent than even the most innocent human adult. Literally how most people feel about children. That type of innocence deserves to be protected, and failure to do so hurts more than the death of a stranger. It’s not rational, but it’s just how a lot of people feel. If those same people were to think about it rationally, they would say the loss of human lives is definitely worse.
It just depends on what perspective you choose. Obviously human life is more significant than dog lives, but a lot of people see dogs similar to children. A life of love and innocence that does not deserve to know violence. It’s not so much comparing the value of lives but the value of innocence.
That’s how you know this is all political bull shit. If they actually wanted to solve the “problem” in a much easier, more efficient way, then they would just go after the people that hire them.
Troops are bound to not follow illegal orders. This is for them. They would not be legally protected individualy if they continued.
I’m pretty sure people sentenced to death get to choose their execution method, so this guy chose firing squad?
“Work will set you free”
Exactly. You have to have a very comfortable life if the idea of having a kid doesn’t scare the shit out of you… that or you’re the type of person that doesn’t give a shit about your kids.
Just change they name of it so that they would have to be specific about the policies they demand be ended instead of just saying “D.E.I. bad”.
So where are all the western liberal democracies at? Europe? Canada? Please interfere with our elections now.
Forget all the nations and their interests. It all boils down to east vs west where the west represents liberal democracy and the east represents authoritarianism. How or why people keep siding with the east is something I have tried but will never understand.
All undocumented people in the country should wear Trump gear 24/7. If they’re lucky ICE might walk on past them, but at the very least, it would be hilarious optics for dr. Phil to be tagging along filming ICE round up a bunch of people in Trump gear.
What future uses might it have? I have only ever heard that crypto’s main selling point is that it’s not controlled by any government. Why is that a good thing? I can understand that sanctioned dictators and money launderers would find that useful, but what benefits are there for the average person? You might be able to make a profit off speculation if you’re lucky, but in doing so you’re also supporting those dictators and criminals. If it had any other use it might seem less like a pyramid scheme, but I am fully unaware of what those other uses might be.
People always point to the worst of the worst to justify the death penalty, but it’s not about them. It’s about us. I just picture people who support the death penalty the same as medieval peasants cheering on the gruesome torture and execution of a criminal like its some kind of entertainment. People need to do more introspection about what part of their personality they are feeding when they give in to the desire for vengeance. That’s not even taking into account that no justice system is perfect.
Political parties are inevitable with fptp elections. It will always come down to 2 candidates. Any 3rd candidate will only split the vote with whoever is most similar. People tend to naturally organize themselves into groups based on who they agree with most. I don’t know if its possible to get rid of political parties all together but having more than 2 would be an improvement. The only way to do that is to change our elections. Either ranked-choice voting or runoffs when no one gets more than half the votes could allow for people to vote 3rd party without throwing away their votes.
