Three or four years at this point, so technically not including some of the ridiculous inflation, but the cost of living in that area has barely increased. Rent is $900 on average there right now, so if you’re pulling in 25 an hour you’re making plenty to live alone relatively comfortably
Yes. When I lived out there I would’ve killed for 25 an hour. I was making 7.50 an hour and with a roommate I lived pretty okay. At 25 I could’ve lived alone and still saved
It’s all relative. The “most generous so far” can still be a really low bar.
I was slightly exaggerating sure, but 25 an hour outside of a city is a lot of money.
Define “the US” because 25 an hour is living a life of luxury in much of the US that’s not a major city
Stuff getting stolen is a fact of life no matter how secure. Maybe in cases of negligence, but if it’s locked up then someone breaking the lock shouldn’t mean you’re considered a party to the crime they use it for
Guns shouldn’t be in cars if they’re not at least locked somehow
Depends on the state if it’s required. Not required in Kansas, but required in Minnesota as an example
What’s interesting is a family friend I know gets laid off twice a year in his unionized workplace at a steel mill(?), but he always gets the same job back. The company just can’t afford to keep everyone on staff during slow months. He makes bank though, so it works out
You can be a perfectly good dev and not enjoy working in the cli, especially when there are good enough alternatives
Customers get charged for maintenance between the ISP and their house
They really don’t, customers get charged what they need to be charged to support the network, not just the last mile to your house. Companies don’t get internet connectivity for free, either, paying significantly more than consumers at every turn
That’s… why they charge customers fees
Sure, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be punished
You’re getting downvoted but juvenile detention exists for a reason. All these people out here thinking children don’t understand that laws apply to them should be wondering why kids aren’t murdering each other or committing theft daily
To be completely fair, a layer builds up in the pipe which stops the lead being an issue unless you royally fuck up like Flint. That said, it still should’ve been fixed
It’s more user friendly in a thousand minor ways, such as installing programs, which makes it much more user friendly overall. At least MacOS has a consistent UI that doesn’t massively change every single update
Ah yes, I love WSL deciding to consume 12 of my 16gb of memory
That’s just called malware
