What’s stupid of them is that if they’d stayed around $8-10/mo each (ad-free), I probably would have stayed subscribed forever. Now they each get nothing.

Former RiFfer here. Although I’m playing with Sync at the moment as I type this, I’ve gravitated toward Connect quite a lot. It’s not Rif but it feels familiar.

But it’s not.

This isn’t intentional. Florida’s politicians want an educated, wealthy population and to fight a meaningless culture war with Disney and young people (to keep Boomers happy).

They are too dumb to see they can’t have their cake and eat it too! This will be one expensive culture war.

Quality universities create quality employees and quality (tax paying) companies. By the end of the decade, and the region will stagnate and you’ll see a “new” Republican going full panic mode to fix the damage (while somehow blaming it on Democrats).

In short: There is NO plan. They’re just THAT shortsighted! (Everything you see can be, once again, explained by simple Boomer overindulgence)

Yep. Would have gladly paid $10 a month for Gold had it included API access for RiF (only fair, since I’m skipping the ads).

But noooooooo. Reddit didn’t want my money, evidently. So, after 11 years of a VERY active account (made or commented on 10-15k posts over that time), I deleted and left.

It’s fine. Lemmy stretches that itch to “scroll” something. And I can use whatever damn app I want.

I’d complain, except it hasn’t gone up in a decade.

Prices needs to go up a little bit every year to reflect CPI and inflation.

RiF fanatic here. Neither mirrors directly. But Jerboa wasn’t bad. And I find I like Connect the best.

I was all for “giving it a shot” just to see what the hub bub was about.

Next step is heading back to old “General Talk” sections of random message boards like it’s 2003. Is the Massassi Temple Forum (Jedi Knight game) still around?

I was here then as well. I created a new community, created a post, it got a random upvote. Turns out that simply making a post meant I made the front page of lemmy.world!

Each day the fediverse has gotten almost twice as busy as it was the day before. I feel like within another two weeks I’m not even going to miss reddit at all LOL.

RiF was reddit for me. And it pisses me off because if Spez had been reasonable, I would have happily signed up for Reddit Gold to have continued API access.

Other than occasionally checking in on the Ex-Mormon subreddit (to follow up on an institution I dislike even more), I am done with reddit forever.

You join like six people I personally know, either is a close friend or family member.

For some reason this one feels so deeply personal, that I feel motivated to vote like hell. I’m so over being held hostage by maniac Boomers who are losing their minds. We are the bigger generation now. Let’s go kick their asses!
