How do you rate BLM as a GM. I think one of if not THE favourite of mine is Joe O’Brien for how well he marries the Show presentation with his respect for player choices. He’s likely underrated IMHO
That said, whilst I am a big dropout fan generally, I haven’t yet managed to get in to any dimension 20 stuff. I would appreciate any recommendations!
I’m more of a Volcano person anyway
This is very cool. My partner and I are bigger fans of life is strange 2 and we have it on the bucket list to take a few weeks traveling from Seattle down the coast until we get to Mexico.
Unfortunately I cannot stand driving and I don’t think either of us want to visit America for a while but I still hope to do it one day.
The big things from the game would be the redwoods and the US border I guess. Still irks me that the fandom didn’t turn up for LiS2, which I found vastly better - but at least we get that. Lost Records definitely feels like dontnod leaning in to the long-term LiS1 fanbase anyway, to me.
There are lots of decent actual plays on YouTube that can give you a very solid idea of how it actually works in practice. My personal favourite style is the glass cannon network as they tend to lean towards how your home game might be (ie it’s not all serious and there’s goofing off during the game) but I’m sure people have specific recommendations for cyberpunk and dungeons and dragons
AI cats, let’s have some real cats!!
Just quit then, millions have. I have more respect for people still smoking cigarettes tbqh.
Oof thanks for the recommend. I will have to keep that one in the back pocket for a rainy day I think. Looks like quite a steep learning curve!
OK I’m using it to type this. Seems quite good! Thanks for the rec
I’ll give it a go, thanks!
I still miss Swype; I’m not aware of any other board that allows gesture cut copy and paste in quite the same way. Also the capitalisation was really easy. I’m using openboard now and it’s fine but lacking that premium feature set
He is also an amazing roleplayer
Check out Haunted City, the blades in the dark RPG actual play podcast. Abu is the chaos agent in this and has some amazing scenes. One of the best
Yeah I think that is the general sentiment on 2. I didn’t feel this way at all when I played it.
I think the themes in 2 are so powerful and explored in interestin such interesting ways. It tackles growing up and responsibility but also obviously politics, protest, immigration, racism.
True colours gets in to some of these more global themes too, albeit in a much narrower scope.
I guess 2 was a lot more ambitious and clearly didn’t land for people as successfully
I thought the writing was excellent, especially compared to the first game. It also had a bisexual storyline for what it’s worth but I generally thought it was such a great expansion of all their ideas.
Also loved the free teaser game captain awesome, and how it crossed over into the main game.
I feel like they really were stung by the overall reception of it, that we lost the storyline we’d have had if it had gone over well. I thought it was vastly superior personally. That said I’ve enjoyed all the games in the series. Before the storm feels janky at first but does have some decent writing in it also.
Stoked for that and Blood and Rage early next year as well
Thanks for sharing this. I love the series so I will play this, tbqh I’m not sure these events mark Deck Nine out much from the industry as a whole sadly.
Off topic, what did y’all think of LiS2? I thought it was a real shame that it didn’t do as well as they hoped.
Your thoughts?
A good enough reason to ignore Brave tbqh
