I absolutely disagree about all fediverse devs being problematic. @ernest is the dev of KBin, and everything I’ve seen of or about him shows he’s a good person and a gem.
Also, there’s a vast difference between being a bit of an asshole sometimes, depending on your point of view (like Linus Torvalds), and trying to justify genocide (lemmy devs).
Someone wrote about there being a cat and a bat command in linux (plus another animal name I forgot), but no dog command. Someone commented that there’s updog.
I just blocked the entire instance. Does that not work in lemmy?
Also, wouldn’t Slackware be its own continent with a larger distance from Ubuntu/Debian? And maybe an Australia for NixOS?

Also, last I heard (about 10 days ago, things might have changed since then) kbin’s API doesn’t quite exist yet. It’s one of the reasons the Artemis App’s source code isn’t open yet; hariette plans to make it open source once she can switch from scraping the website to an actual API and scrub the scraping from the code base.
Technically I do, but they’re in css, vanilla javascript and rusty PHP4/PHP5. Programming was and mostly is a hobby for me.

I managed to get my immediate family (and my sister’s husband) onto Threema, the extended family is on Whatsapp with zero chance of switching away.
On the other hand, one cousin’s husband can’t stop spamming the group chat with pics of their daughters. Not just “special event, here’s a pic of each at their best” or whatever, but multiple. fotos. daily., sometimes videos too… As a consequence, I’ve permanently muted that whatsapp group and only occasionally take a peek at it.

Can you add kbin.social, fedia.io and kglitch.social to the list of home instances? You’d just have to replace the /c/ in links to communities with /m/. This community is at https://kglitch.social/m/fediverse@lemmy.world for me, for example.
I imagine making kbin instances searchable with your tool would require quite a bit more work.

The fediverse being decentralized means that there are many servers/instances, each with their own codes of conduct (or lack of one). Similarly, different communities on those servers can have different rules they might want to enforce with removals of posts or comments. For example, a community about cat pictures will have a rule about posts having to be cat pictures and will remove a post about your grandma’s vegetable soup recipe.
If your comment/post was removed, that probably means your post/comment was either against the rules of the community or against the code of conduct of the entire server/instance. If it’s the former, look for or create a community where that kind of content is appreciated. If you’re running up against the code of conduct of the instance, look for a server/instance where your content wouldn’t be violating the code of content or make your own server/instance where you’re the one defining the code of conduct. Of course, that code of conduct would only apply to communities on your server.
If your server becomes a source of constant shit, admins of other servers might decide to defederate from your server. Think of it like making your own email server: if too many of your email server’s emails are spam, other email providers might decide to designate your email server as a spam factory and block all emails coming from it.

lemmygrad.ml and lemmy.ml are run by them, the former is explictly a tankie haven. While lemmy.ml is supposed to be a general lemmy instance, the admins (which are the same as lemmygrad’s) have spoken in favor of genocide and removed posts on lemmy.ml that are critical of the CCP, especially in regards to the treatment of the Uyghurs.
Most instances have defederated lemmygrad, some have defederated lemmy.ml as well.
