At some point the bear would be killed and, seeing that his own end would come, the gorilla would go into an existential crisis and would go on a long quest to find out how to avoid death. This quest would, eventually, lead the gorilla to finding an old lab from the time of the humans. In this lab there would live an old chimpanzee that has survived countless ages. When asked how he long survived, the chimpanzee would explain that the humans discovered the secret to immortality.

Alas, when asked for directions on how to achieve the same, the chimp would tell the gorilla that the process was lost to the span of time. The secret, however, could be found by making a journey to the lowest depths of a sunken part of urban jungle, wherein an old lab sits. After acquiring the gear to survive, the gorilla would dive deep into the abyss, and would make it to the lab. In the lab, the secret would be discovered and he would make his way to the surface, victorious.

Alas, as the ape ascended, he would be beset upon by a large mutant fish. A monster so terrifying that even the non-descriptions of the human writer H.P. Lovecraft wouldn’t be able to do it justice. The gorilla would fight the monster and emerge victorious, but at a cost. The secret that he had spent so long pursuing would be destroyed. Lost to time.

The gorilla would go back to the urban jungle and marvel at the world that he and the bear had built. Resigned to his inevitable death, this urban jungle would stand the test of time as a symbol to all that came after, of the might of the bear and the gorilla.

This is what I use. I tried other ones, but this one is simple to set up and edit. It’s very clean and has a ton of widgets for services. I would like it to have a login option, but that isn’t a deal breaker.

Urdu is spoken in Pakistan and is a sister language of Hindi. They are very similar and there is a high degree of mutual intelligibility. It has some Arabic and Persian influence as I understand it.

Perhaps you might be thinking of the Ugaritic language. It was spoken in the Syria/Lebanon area.

This is similar to what I do. I have an old pixel 3xl and a Sunshine server running on my gaming PC. Moonlight is installed on the Pixel and I stream my games to it from the PC. I have a WireGuard VPN setup for when I am outside the house. It works very well!

Edit: Inside the house, I have a Rasbery Pi 5 with Libreelec installed which has a Moonlight addon as well for when I want to play on my big screen TV.

I just don’t like the concept of race at all. We are all human, full stop. The concept is useful in understanding the realities of the world we live in with regard to how people are treated based on the concept, and it’s useful for working to fix/mitigate the damage to individuals and groups based on it. Other than that it is make believe and only serves to separate us based on make believe stereotypes.

Edit: I read about “double race” on Wikipedia, and if I understand it correctly, it has more to do with culture than with race in concept, but I still have reservations about splitting people up into broad categories and viewing that as an absolute.

BTW, I’ve been to Japan many times and they are not wholly welcome to outsiders, so I don’t know that I would base anything on that part of their system.

Having “mixed-race” (I honestly hate that term) kids, this is one of the things that I worry about living in the part of the South that I live in. They are still babies, but I worry about putting them in public school when it comes time. The direction that the country is going and the fact that people like this are so emboldened now is absolutely terrifying.

Lutris is another one like playnite that is designed specifically for Linux using gtk. Like playnite, it collates all (most?) of the major game clients like steam, ea and epic. It works pretty well from my experience.

To be clear, I agree that the way our model works is broken. Wall street and infinite profit gains can only work so long until the system collapses, and Steam is a part of this. Some of the statements made here are just not factual and I feel the need to be pedantic, because I don’t believe that spreading misinformation will help anything. Attack CEO pay disparity or something useful and true.

The point still stands that the revenue they make could very well be going to infrastructure costs, necessitating a charge for using their store that is on everyone’s computer. If all you have is potato servers then what quality will the store front be?

I stand my last paragraph in the above, especially the last sentence.

It isn’t 30% profit. It’s a 30% charge. Servers, broadband connections, etc… are expensive. Those numbers may be pulled out of someone’s ass, so I don’t know their veracity, but 30% might not be too much.

That honestly sounds like a conspiracy theory. You think that a bunch of people and corporations are putting time, money and energy into these projects to break the very thing they are designed for? I really think you should do some research on exactly how the Wayland project got its start and who was involved. Spoiler, it was a bunch of Xorg developers as I understand it.

Plus the fact that desktop Linux was already fragmented by its nature. You think they want to fragment the already fragmented thing under the pretext of improvement? Fragment it by what? Providing a newer standard that is better enough than the old, that it actually convinces most groups to adopt it.

Its legit the opposite, but the beauty of right now is that the various fragmented Linux ecosystems (distros, desktop environments, etc) are more alive and more healthy now than ever before.

You’re overall point stands, but I don’t know that I believe that someone got an article 92 over a sunburn. I’ve heard some variation of that from a bunch of people and even may be guilty of having spread it myself, but I have never actually seen it and couldn’t find anything from a cursory search. I mainly use Grayjay, and I did pay because I believe that if I use a product and you ask for payment, I will pay. The only thing that I have found lacking is the lack of a good autoplay feature. I don’t use autoplay most of the time, but it makes driving easier, as well as finding new content/creators. Rotate is weird, I have a few bugs there as well.

However, I still think the point stands that it is difficult to find content creators because there are a thousand instances and no real way to parse the creators in a reasonable way, in order to find new content. You can find instances, but that is the long way. There needs to be a way to parse what is on the peertube part of the fediverse easily before it is going to be remotely appealing/usable to anyone outside our very niche, very nerdy circle.

On mastodon, for example, I can search for a hashtag and it will search the entirety of those servers federated with my home server for that hashtag. Do that with peertube, and its the best option for users, IMHO. Monetization will have to get worked out to attract creators.

Grayjay, though, great app with some room to improve. Already better than NewPipe in some ways.
