  • You don’t even need a thought experiment. The hard data is there. Police in my are, for example, cut enforcement by more than 60% back during the pandemic. Crime and civil violations shot through the roof to the point of chaos. I don’t remember the exact number, but it got bad, ignore the fact we already have some of the highest gun crimes in the country… They finally stepped up enforcement a bit the middle of last year and crime dropped measurably, but it is still higher than 2017-2018.

I am sure this has been a familiar thing across many cities.

  • This could be another indicator that we are going into recession. I did not read the article (because who does that? 🤣) but when you look at rising credit card debt combined with the mass layoffs, it usually means folks are on their last legs, financially speaking.

That is assuming there actually is a problem with higher credit card debt and the topic is ‘t being sensationalized, of course.

Another indicator to watch out for is falling revenue in earnings reports. Falling revenue, particularly in retail and consumer goods spaces means recession is inbound.

I firmly believe that, absent some additional support, we will enter a recession within 2 years.

Note: I don’t claim to be an economist, but I am old and I have lived through a few of these downturns.

  • No, it is completely misleading because:

    1. this change will not impact a single developer outside the EU.

    2. Any developer not using a third party app store will also not be affected.

    3. You can still build free apps and literally nothing changes assuming you use Apple’s app store.

Like I said, it is a shit policy, but for nearly all developers nothing changes.

The video’s thumbnail said Apple is killing free apps. That is a complete lie. There is not an ounce of truth to it.

It is funny to see the calls like this and also the calls for civil war. The number of texans capable of shooting down an F35 with the puny small arms they bought is zero. Shoot, replace F35 with any plane built in the past 50 years.

That is why there will never be a civil war.

Before you start mumbling something about republicans flying F35s, keep in mind you actually have to have an ounce of intelligence to fly one. If they had any intelligence they would not be republican.

Such a clickbait-y headline I am not going to watch it.

Free apps aren’t changing in anyway.

The tl;dr is that for developers using the app store, nothing changes. Developers wishing to not use the app store have to agree to a new fee structure.

Apple, as expected, intends to make up for lost profits by charging more money.

If you are outside the EU none of this matters to you.

Note that I am not disagreeing with the sentiment , but rather I am disagreeing with the clickbait headline.
