  • I can stand carbonated water and hate plain water. When I was a kid, my family wouldn’t drink water but other beverages.

My kids (17 and 20 now) grew up with drinking water at home. Water was the thing to drink if you are thirsty, everything else was allowed but “something special” like a sweet. Going to a restaurant also was special, they could choose what they like.

While I still struggle with water - I manage, but I still drink sugar free soda as well, my adult kids can’t understand how I like that sweet stuff all the time.

So I firmly believe your preference is what you grew up with. You can change it, but it takes effort.

  • I’m currently still playing it - just because I got it on PSN. I’m not at all into the Harry Potter lore, ok one boring weekend I watched the films and they are OK - but it’s not my kind of topic at all.

So as a non potter fan: The game is absolutely beautiful, combat is ok I agree but all those side quests are not creative, they are frequently boring - as in many meh open worlds. (I enjoy open world, Witcher 3, Horizon - much better)

I think Legacy had better followed a system like the modern God of War, where the story drives what you can access.

Because it’s so beautiful I explored the full map as soon I had a broom, so no there’s no sense of wonder having the story play in a new part of the map.

Having played far cry, I started taking out camps just for fun early - as soon you can get invisible you can just cheese a lot of the enemies. All that combat feels disconnected from the story, they could have just left it out.

Learning new spells in class is like cool on one hanf and feels like one of my nightmares where I’m back in school on the other. The tasks you need to complete for each, come one collect a potion buy some stuff - didn’t they have better ideas.

Probably a lot could have been made out of the school situation with all the shenanigans between pupils, but the game is so fucking politically correct they won’t even play pranks on each other.

We’re the teacher’s pet. Yaaawn. What about being on a mission while everyone sees you as a no good troublemaker?

Still overall a really OK game, but not great.

  • Haha, already there. I canceled my Netflix a year ago or so after the amount of cheap self produced stuff got too much and they removed more and more older quality content.

Now, whenever I want to stream I sign up for a single streaming service for a month or two - but the time where I was just subscribed all the time is over.

Ah one reason also was the sharing crackdown, I had kept the subscription long term as my kids used it when they were at my place or my ex-wife’s. Nowadays it doesn’t work anymore as (for example) the TV my son has at the ex-wife’s place never is connected via my internet.

With added commercials, less quality etc streaming got less attractive. Hey, nowadays I regularly go to movie theaters, again.

And if things get worse, somewhere I still have my captain’s hat and the wooden leg for sailing the seven seas…

  • That went deep, quickly. I absolutely agree we all have good and bad, black and white or whatever you call it tendencies inside. Whenever we ignore our dark part, it acts unseen, unchecked.

By accepting that we’re just human, just animals, we have desires, we can at least - I don’t really have good words for this - at least feel and take care in the harm we can’t or don’t want to avoid to do.

  • Trump is only the symptom. I’ve seen the Republicans walk into this direction more and more every cycle. Bush, Dubya, ahh then I remember Palin who didn’t win with her Tea Party chums etc. - it culminated in Maga.

And even if Trump turns dead by suffocation, having his head up Putin’ s ass tomorrow - he’s only the most visible figure of this theater, and there a few more who probably wait to be King when the King is dead.

Nevertheless, what the post before said is important - the US was a soft power, being in the center of a huge balanced. network of allies. That network, the one the Magas shat on, is what guaranteed stability for all. (And yes, I’m aware politics always was a dirty business - but not in this way)

There were probably a lot of shouting matches between politicians in the past, probably even between presidents. But fucking never on live TV, now none of they can’t move without losing face. What a sharade.

  • I read what happened, and after I knew I watched the video clip.

    I’m still under shock.

The world is turning, this is an important point in history. I was in disbelief for a long time, but we Europeans can’t trust the US anymore.

This might be a good thing after all, we need to wean off the American teat and decouple ourselves. We need our own tech stacks, we need our own EU troops and we need our own whatever Nato once was.

We need to jump in and cough up the money to replace the Ukraine Support the US did.

I’m fucking afraid, the risk of
an even bigger war just greatly increased.

But whatever will happen we’ll never be able to trust the USA again, even if things get better there’s no guarantee the same shit happens again 4 years later.

The only rational thing is to isolate ourselves from the sick patient.
