  • Similar with android. I had a pixel 5 and loved it, the pixel 6 pro came out and I was dragged in (higher res screen, 120hz etc etc). Then the pixel 7 pro came out and I bought that too (mainly for signal improvements).

Looking back, my pixel 5 did/does everything these do. I’ve decided my next upgrades will be whenever the below happens:

    • Phone broken
    • No more updates
    • Feature I need, and I mean need (it would be hard for a phone to come out to do this)

I don’t need some random AI features/camera improvments. 99% of my phone use is podcasts, browsing the internet and any phone from the last 5 years will do that nicely still.

    I have a few I like.

    • Cyber - Motherboard from Vice. Will have a weekly discussion about hacks/breaches etc etc.
    • Digital Foundry Weekly - Weekly discussion with the guys from DF about PC hardware and gaming technology.
    • Hunting Warhead- Investigative series about finding and hunting child abuse victims on the dark web.
    • Intruder alert- Only just started this one personally and it’s new, but it’s discussions about about techniques used by hackers
    • Cybercrime Investigations - The title says it all, some british cyber journalists explore some famous hacks.
    • Rabbit Hole - New york time that explores whaty the internet is doing to us.

Not quite podcasts but here’s some tech “podcasts” I download via yt-dlp from youtube and import into my favourite podcatcher, mainly because they don’t have an MP3 RSS feed and I like the podcast format.

    • Asianometry- Releases episodes in depth about science/tech in asia, very often covers semi-conductors.
    • TechTechPotato- Ian Cutress’ youtube channel regarding AI and semi-conductors.
