  • First off, FUCK UBER… but I don’t see Uber being at any sort of fault here unless their policy is no animals, which it obviously isn’t because Uber Pet exists. Only possibly by not routing service animal rides through Uber Pet exclusively since those drivers are already expecting animals.

Do we really want to say that in order to participate in rideshare driving at all that you must allow animals in your private vehicle?

Uber drivers use their own vehicles, they are not Uber’s property or responsibility. If an owner doesn’t want animals in their vehicle, they cannot and should not be forced to. A lot of people don’t want animals in their vehicles, trained or not. They may be worried about damage from things like claws to the fabrics, etc. and don’t want to deal with that possibility, whereas the Uber Pet drivers are prepared for that.

And this doesn’t even get into the bastards that lie about their pets and “emotional support” animals being service animals causing problems for those that actually do need the assistance. There’s no penalty for lying about it, and no verification system to filter those out.

  • Measles is particularly dangerous and much more malignant than other diseases. Those that cannot be vaccinated rely on herd immunity for indirect protection. Measles requires a threshold of about 95% for effective herd immunity, and 90% is the critical threshold for it to be basically totally ineffective.

Measles is one of the most contagious diseases on the planet. It is airborns, lasts for hours on surfaces, has a 90% infection rate among those unvaccinated, and is contagious for 4-5 days both before and after physical symptoms develop.

The US is now down to about a 91% vaccination rate average thanks to anti-vaxxers. Meaning there are many places under that critical threshold where herd immunity effectively no longer exists. With anyone that cannot be vaccinated for whatever reason forced to roll the dice thanks to the idiots in society.

  • The US military directly has been careful. It’s usually the military contractors that do that shit. They don’t have the same training requirements, and will often hire veterans that were dishonorably discharged from the military. They hide under things like plausible deniability and the fact they aren’t actually military so they aren’t subject to the same UCMJ standards which actually are fairly effectively enforced (nothing is perfect unfortunately but on average it is enforced widely). So the contractors think they can ignore things, and the military sometimes take advantage of that to do things they know they can’t and throw the contractors under the bus if they’re caught.
