I block the ads by using SmartTube on my Shield Pro. But for my AppleTV 4K, I prefer paying a few bucks for Premium for a smooth experience ☻.
I mean, it’s something like $7-8 for 6 months via a one-time VPN payment in India or the like. Definitely worth it.
The silliest one is my Plex web admin page. I even had to make a Github issue request about it, and found a bunch of others who had done the same thing.
Several government websites, among others. I should start a list. I’m sure it’s a combo of unlock origin with FF’s privacy protection settings, but I’ve tweaked it so much for the websites that are broken and nothing ever changed. Switched over to Safari and everything loads beautifully.
Safari. Firefox borks out on so many websites for me. Safari “just works.”
How is the local stuff backdoored?
A lot of Siri requests are processed locally, to be fair. And iCloud has encryption now.
How do we know that goes to the workers and not the head honcho?
Of course. I did the same thing until my OCD got the better of me and I got an AndroidTV device with a custom launcher, as well as an AppleTV4K. I love having no ads and no blank spaces now.
Not connected, but works fine as a media server. Less issues with Plex than Jellyfin in its current state.
No, but 1/3 of your screen will be empty real estate.
There shouldn’t be any ads on AppleTV. And for AndroidTV, just install a custom launcher.
NextDNS keeps working when you leave your wifi network (without having to set up VPNs or DDNS). That’s what I like about it.
Ship of Harkinian is an absolutely brilliant way to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I have it up and running on my Steamdeck and it blows the EmuDeck/RetroArch version out of the water.
Pi-hole, NextDNS, a variety of things over the years.
Really wish smart TV’s running AndroidTV/GoogleTV could do framerate matching like external devices can, though.
I have to unplug my docked Steamdeck anytime I want to watch any other input because screws with the CEC functionality so much. It’s a hot mess.
I’ve used an adblocker to block the ad that takes up 1/3 of the homescreen on Roku, but even then, it turns into a huge empty frame. ⍨
Plus, Plex on Roku transcodes audio and subtitles no matter what I do. It’s so annoying.
Me too! Works super well. I fucking love NextDNS.
Does this mean I can stop prefacing my AI requests with “According to Reddit…”?
