6·3 days agoI found a copy of 1995’s ‘Desktop Toys’ on archive.org, and ran it on linux with wine literally yesterday.
Windows 11 has an incompatability with 32 bit progams apparently.
I see your point, but I think we’re in better shape than you estimate.
That said, we could always be in bettar shape, and as more is created, the less complete archives can be.
281·7 days agoAccording to Cory Doctorow, Rupert Murdoch owned newspapers have made over 100 editorials attempting to smear Lina Khan at the FTC. A cursory google search seems to corroborate this assertion.
I’m inclined to agree that there’s nothing ‘election year’ about these cases, and that real work is being done to claw back some measure of control from these monopolies.
5·10 days agoI got a Slimbook executive 14 (spanish company), which is identical to Tuxedo’s infinity book pro 14.
Loving it so far! Not helpful on the vram front though.
The only thing that might do it ( assuming you want thin and light) would be a razer blade with a 3000 series nvidia they must be fully compatible with linux, otherwise their lambda labs tensorbook collaboration wouldn’t work.
I love VR. I have so many hours in some of the slower paced fps titles that it’s almost matched my video game time total for non-vr games on steam.
The one thing I learned for sure is that I don’t want anyone else telling me when I have to put on the headset and when I’m allowed to take it off.
Never will wear a vr headset in the workspace.
I’m right there with you, but I also remember hearing that this time last decade.
I think I need this, finally a real use for ‘ai’.
The amount of how to videos you have to watch through, when all you want is one little piece of info you should be able to search or scan for has been a problem since before the internet figured out how to increase clicks by making a web page in to slides.
Can you link me a how-to video on how to get startedt and send me a summary from your working setup?

Where as I’ve got my 3S plugged in to my work laptop running fedora and, and I regularly have to cycle the connection setting away from the bolt dongle and back again, because the input becomes choppy and laggy.
No issue with the straight bluetooth connection, but the high resolution scrolling doesn’t seem to work
Have you checked out the bigscreen headset? It’s only doing upscaling to overcome the resolution limitations of displayport 1.4, and the form factor might be to your liking.
Shame about the lens glare effect, but otherwise, pretty cool!

So I’ve implemented Obsidian Git, and it works really well. The only trouble I’ve had is on iOS (I’ve got m it on android, fedora, debian and windows) where it’s bot supporting merge changes.
I’m considering moving to logseq and implementing the same.
The other alternative to self hosting is ‘SyncThing’. After I introduced my dad to obsidian, I saw how he did his synchronization with it, and it looks like a lot less overhead - fairly compelling

No, that’s handled by ARP requests. In this case, it’s likely that the DHCP server is on the gateway, as that’s a pretty common setup for home ISP router arrangements.
Gateway refers to a router that has access to other networks. In this case, the default gateway, which will be the router that has access to the internet.
DNS or name servers are a separate option in DHCP leases, as are the IP addresses for DHCP servers, which are more of a windows thing generally.
In this case this comment is probably an accurate description of what’s happened:
I’d hesitate to call it truly enterprise, but I’ve used the 24 port/10Gbe version of these in a datacenter. Not many issues to write home about - seems to handle vlanning pretty well.
Has 10Gbe uplinks, US power, and PoE+. Probably access to a fancy dashboard too.
$1600 is probably as cheap as you’re getting.
Edit: Oh yeah, they’re probably not dual attached, and the ‘redundant power supply’ (RPS) is a separate appliance, which I consider kinda bullshit, that takes up another U.
I’ve had no trouble with actual switching performance though fwiw.
Edit 2: They’re probably compatible with the AR mobile app, which is hella cool, and somewhat useful in customer sites.
Do not forget to log out and log back in after you add yourself to a new group. Your desktop environment is a program, and it won’t know about the update until you spawn a new graphical shell with the updated permissions.
Yeah, but how long until it doesn’t come with a power brick, and you have to supply your own?
