Bit more than that, it’s maybe the end of American influence in the world because the neocon 3.0 agenda will bring intense economic strife and social suffering. The environmental and regulatory policies will lead to infrastructure deterioration and polluted air, water etc. The health policies will lead to a weak and sick population. The rich and upper middle class will live in Nordic countries or Europe, as they mostly already do, where they will enjoy the social policies that they deprive Americans of. Most talent will likely go to other countries. But I seriously hope I am wrong.
This seems like a crypto project, or something that will eventually be used to train bad AI. I’d be wary
Ironically Republican presidents are the worst for the economy, https://www.jec.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/democrats/2024/10/the-u-s-economy-performs-better-under-democratic-presidents
God bean counters ruin everything good related to tech
Eh, people like Carlson use this rhetoric to try to get the young male voters. The Harris admin isn’t petty and vengeful, you’re thinking of Trump admin. Worse people doing worse things have gotten deals with the U.S. govt on a variety of things. So no, Carlson is full of shit as usual
Three words: tax the rich
I am not saying that. I am saying that if you take a really rich person and and really poor person, and switch their places, then there’s no guarantee that anything effectively changes about society because innate self preservation tendencies enables us to make similar rational decisions. Systems need to counteract these self preservation tendencies because often times these tendencies can be ruinous to the system they benefit from. Look at everything happening now, for example
The problem isn’t billionaires per se, the problem is not taxing people at higher income levels enough. People with higher incomes will do the rational thing and work towards self-preservation. It’s up to governments to work towards social stability, which is the point of civilization. It’s up to people to hold their governments accountable via democratic action. This model works in a lot of instances, but maligned processes can make it fail.
My guess is Biden meant Trump donors given Biden has always been friendly to Republican voters from the general public, there was an example of that recently.
Though wtf, why is Biden saying this such an issue and Trump literally said he’s going to send military against “enemies of the state”. Such bullshit double standards
I think it depends, if something is reporting on legislative action then a press release is not propaganda. If the press release is just making promises without mentioning specific acts or laws or legislation, then it is propaganda.
In a way he’s right, but it depends! If you take even a common example like Chat GPT or the native object detection used in iPhone cameras, you’d see that there’s a lot of cool stuff already enabled by our current way of building these tools. The limitation right now, I think, is reacting to new information or scenarios which a model isn’t trained on, which is where all the current systems break. Humans do well in new scenarios based on their cognitive flexibility, and at least I am unaware of a good framework for instilling cognitive flexibility in machines.
The only “woke” thing he’s worried about is unions and wage increases. All culture war stuff is a distraction.
But he definitely doesn’t think the same way about the people voting for him…
As much as I admire organizations which promote interfaith relations, my problem is when the religious texts of different faiths are literally combative towards other beliefs. No, it’s not just an Islam thing.
It’s really the responsibility of religious academics to start putting ancient texts in a context which is more conducive towards improved interfaith relations and overall societal stability. Otherwise, religions need to get out of politics and policy making, and just stay a personal matter (as they always should have been).
… Wisconsin based Bradley Impact Fund and its parent, the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation…
This election in particular has made it clear that the U.S., and other countries, need serious campaign finance reforms.
Countries are being bought by a handful of people, that’s a clear threat to democracies. Higher taxes are just an effective and necessary cure to this crisis.
You never saw GW Bush as racist, but Middle Eastern Americans would disagree because leaders at that time didn’t do enough to combat the wave of Islamophobia which occurred after 9/11. Now it’s just the Latinos turn being the scapegoat. Republicans almost always play the racism card, just the target is different. Americans deserve better.
Edit to point out that when I say “Republicans” in my post, I mean the talking heads. I know individuals and people who may vote Republican may not necessarily feel the same
There’s no such thing as living without being bothered in an autocratic regime, doesn’t matter who you are. You could be the most ardent supporter and you’d still be shit out of luck for any reason. Stalin used to have his own cabinet members routinely disposed of
This rhetoric is meant for voter intimidation because they know Republicans always lose when Democrats turn out to vote.
The polls are meaningless because they could be manipulated or manufactured, we don’t know who’s being polled. People just need to cast their vote and not let this be a close election.
I know but that’s a hard sell for poor young recruits, if they knew this more they’d charge like mercenaries
