The year of the linux desktop was when AMD open sourced their drivers around 5 years ago and Valve partnered with codeweavers to drop Proton. Its only been uphill from there.

This was definitely true ten years ago! I’m sure you’ll catch up to the modern linux experience soon though.

Nextcloud works just fine on my system, must be something with the way you set stuff up.

Then you need NextCloud, not Syncthing.

Run NextCloud on your NAS and you’ll be set.

If big corporations hoovering your data should be on everyone’s threat list, then yea, i’d say its a huge benefit.

I love git repos for GUI apps that dont have a screenshot of the app to see what it looks like.

Just switched to the beta on Arch and its definitely coming along. SDR content still looks washed out, but its a lot better on my monitor (LG 27UK600) than on windows.

A few games that could support it with the flick of a switch (or quite literally a checkbox) such as Rust and Fortnite do not, but EAC itself does support Linux and quite well. VRChat uses EAC and it runs just fine (thousands of hours with it working), just as one example.

At this point, if a game doesn’t work on Linux with EAC, it is 100% pure unadulterated laziness on the company’s part. They can literally enable it and say “We officially don’t support Linux, don’t ask us for help if you play on it.”

You basically need to employ network engineering level security - very tight firewall rules, use NAT where it’s available (IPv6 removes NAT, which ipv6 apologists will tell you is a good thing - they’re wrong, as it removes per-service level control and moves it out to per-device/per-NIC), and punch very specific holes to grant access where needed.

Prevent north/south traffic entirely, limit east/west traffic heavily
