Makes sense since they are moving away from the RED Engine for future releases. Only way I could see them spending more time with Cyberpunk was if the launch hadn’t been so rough (to say the least).

My guess is that it got “federated” by the bot, so it pulled all subscribers at once

I think OP is mixing up IRC and Matrix. IRC indeed does require you to be online to receive messages (but there are ways around that), but matrix loads your messages offline just fine.
Checked it now and I have 3k unread messages on the lemmy support chart.

1/5 Big news! Thank you to everyone who played the alpha version of Soccer Kids. We’ve released a few patches since then, and are very happy with how positive the reactions are. We’re now focused on finishing the 1.4 update for Darkwood.
2/5 After we release it, we’re going on hiatus for the forseeable future. We haven’t been able to create a work environment that would not be destructive to our personal lives. Our families are our top priority and they should not be affected negatively by our work.
3/5 So ultimately we decided that it would be best if we part ways, with a possibility of returning in 5-10 years when we get our shit together. This doesn’t have to be bad news! We aren’t disappearing into thin air and would like our games to live on.
4/5 We have been talking to some amazing people who could make a sequel for Darkwood and continue working on Soccer Kids. So spread the word - if you’re a developer / publisher who’s interested in working on those IPs, hit us up!
5/5 In the meantime, please join us for beta testing of the next update for Darkwood, which should resume this month.
Oh, so that explains why the ratio of favorites/boosts is so low on mastodon. I thought it was just a culture thing, where people rarely left likes on posts.
Turns out it was just a software quirk.
In this case, and for a lot of other studios, Embracer went on a buying spree some time ago, betting that a deal worth $2 billion with Saudis would go through. It didn’t, and now they are forcing cost cuts across all studios they own.
