I do actually know a fair share of people using Linux in my social circle, but a lot of them uses both windows and Linux. My family uses Linux for their private devices, as that was a requirement to get my technical support. And an increasing number of my friends are moving over to Linux.
What I find weird is the sudden increase of 10% (from 18.16% to 29.04%). Like, did everyone get back from vacation after a Linux conversion camp or something?
So in theory, one third of everyone I meet should be a linux user. Yet everyone uses windows. 🤔 Am I the 30%?? /sw

Against my better judgement, let me ask you this.
What makes you say they are protected in jail? Because they get to be alive?
Have you seen how people in jail are being treated? (At least in America)
Is it not better for them to be kept alive so they can regret their actions, rather than ending their existence? Giving them opportunity to pay for their actions with something else than their lives?
Also, why should we not attack the underlying problem of why people commit these atrocious actions to begin with? Do you really believe they were born with the intention of committing these crimes?

These both happened to me. I was already looking into switching to Linux in 2020, and the last update did it for me. Have been only been using Linux at home ever since.

/var is really annoying, especially when partitioning, previously I could just have a /var partition, but now I need to do /var/log specifically
Compared to say arch, gentoo, lfs. ubuntu is easier to install, but I believe the point you wanted to make is that there are distros that are as easy if not easier to install than ubuntu
edit: I see now that this might have sounded more condescending than I had intended, and for that I’m sorry.
The point I wanted to make was that there are both better and worse installers out there. Which is something I enjoy about linux and the different distros. You have the option to install something easy and just use your computer as you see fit, or you can tinker and learn different ways your computer can be set up.

I did for the most important stuff, but redownloading my game library was not fun.
Also, windows will never brick your machine because of a full hard drive. My wife has a shitty MacBook air. She filled the drive completely. The OS can no longer function. It boots and that’s it. You can’t open anything, you can’t delete anything. Every single click says free up HDD space, even deleting files.
The almost exact same thing happened to a friend of mine using Windows 11. The machine booted, but he was unable to log in.
Also windows 10 updates has twice deleted all my files, I am now no longer on windows.

I use g915 tactile, and it works just fine. Noise level depends on how hard you type.
I have never had an issue with keyboards or mice not working, just plug and play
I can also recommend Logitech MX Mechanical as a good alternative.
edit: both piper and openRGB works to control the unicorn vomit. Piper also works to set the macro keys.
