In Australia assault rifles and automatics are just outright banned. You need a licence to own any type of gun, which takes 6 months waiting for background checks to be done. Guns must be kept in Safes etc.

So whilst a baddie might want to get an assault rifle and go on a kill rampage he can’t. There just aren’t any around. You can’t break in to a house and steal one.

1. I don’t care if you want to edit my race out of your game. It has zero effect on me. It’s your private game. Why would I care? If I don’t like the mod it I just won’t install it. I’m never going to intervene to stop you from enjoying your game the way you want just because I don’t agree or like it.

This argument is just trying to find reasons to be offended.

I’ll give you an example that will definitely trigger you. I play HOI4. That game is a historical WW2 game. The game does not have an accurate flag for Germany because it’s symbol is not allowed to be shown in Germany. I always use a mod to put the proper Nazi flag in the game because I want my historical game to be representitive of the period. Denying me the ability to use it doesn’t make the historical event suddenly not happen. It happened. Am I suddenly a Nazi supporter because I want my war game to reflect reality?

2. I’m not American so the N word has very little meaning to me. I think it’s stupid that people can’t even write the word without being banned. How are you supposed to talk about it. It’s rediculous. If your skin colour is the right shade then you can go around saying the forbidden word at will?? Honestly I’m never going to say it because it’s not part of my cultural norm anyway.

In Australia the racist word people used for indigenous was ‘coon’. I’ve never used it and I never will. Ive not even heard anyone use it since maybe the 80s when a kid was trying to be an edgelord. Do I think the word should be banned internationally just because some wankers used it 30+ years ago? No. If you’re using it in a hateful way against someone or a people, then sure, that bastard should face some consequences.

I’m just never going to support blanket banning activities or words for everyone because of a few bad actors.

I don’t understand why people argue for less options that don’t affect them.

No one is forcing the mod on you. Is it really that harmful that it exists?

I don’t give 2 shits if a mod exists that makes everyone in the game trans or gay or anything else. I’m just not going to install the mod unless it improves the game in some way or it sounds like it would make the game more interesting with alternative play styles or something.

I’m never going to argue that the mod I’m not interested in should be removed because it’s not reinforcing my beliefs.

I lived in a town with 50k back in the 90s. I don’t remember there ever being a bus service except for the school buses.

The town was pretty massive though. Half the town was on a plateau as well so you had to walk up a pretty huge hill to get to half of it.

Yeah, the issue is, the laptop is full of photos. She took it to Apple after I failed to figure it out. They said they can wipe it but not recover the photos.

The Mac UI is basically windows 3.1.

Also, windows will never brick your machine because of a full hard drive. My wife has a shitty MacBook air. She filled the drive completely. The OS can no longer function. It boots and that’s it. You can’t open anything, you can’t delete anything. Every single click says free up HDD space, even deleting files.

It’s so fucking bad.

I work a 9 day week. It’s shit. 4 day work week only works if you don’t have to do a 38hr week crammed into the remaining days.

I have to do 9 hr days to get that day off. The Friday I have to work is only a 4 hr day.

I often dream about just working all 7 days just so each day is shorter. If I did 4 hrs on Saturday and Sunday I could just do 7 hr days.

I fucking hate 9 hr days. I’m completely over it by 6 hrs.

I also consider just cutting back my hours to 24hrs, but then I think about my retirement. I don’t want to be super poor when I’m old so I need to work as much as possible for the next 10 years atleast before dialing back a bit until retirement.

I can. Have a meeting in Citrix and I happily work while people yabber on in the background.

The real killer is the face to face meetings. My group supervisor now demands anyone in the office on a particular day go into his office for the team meeting. That’s a real time waster.

People online can’t hear us properly standing around in his office. Can’t get work done while standing in there.

I’m untouchable at home. I work until I need a break, then quickly sort questions and queries, then get back into my groove for another hour or two.

As it currently stands IMO Linux won’t be taking market share from Windows.

I actually think the best use case for Linux is for the very old. People that want their computer to work and never change. They only need a browser and a word processor and email. I considered setting up Mint for my mum’s PC just so its a consistent and solid experience forever.

She likes playing the Windows card games though with the score board so it ruled it out.

I’ve tried several times. I’m pretty test savvy. Last time I tried I said I’m sticking with it for 3 months minimum to get a grip on it.

I lasted about 4 months before I went back to windows.

It just makes life hard. Windows might be tracking every moment of my usage but it just works as Jensen would say.

The amount of hours I spent reading posts and forums trying to figure out how to get things working the way I wanted.

Linux really needs to unify a bit. Stop being so fragmented. It’s so stupid having different versions of Linux that require different versions of software to work.

Until a single common standard is adopted it will never gain traction.

Plus they need to get away from the terminal. It’s not the 80s anymore.
