I just expected Voyager to go through the same process as Memmy did, beta-testing through TestFlight and then finally publishing to AppStore once it’s “ready”. Meanwhile, on Android you don’t even need to publish on Play Store. A lot of FOSS apps choose not to simply because it takes so much longer when an apk file would do just fine
I’d just like to say, Android users would love to see a native app and you don’t need to publish to the Play Store straight away. We don’t need to go through all the TestFlight shenanigans that Apple users do, you can just upload an apk to GitHub releases and we can beta test it for you
I’d expect the ReVanced team to add this as a patch soon, seems very cool
Gmail itself, in that situation, is just a frontend to the mail server. You can use the same domain, on any mail server, with any frontend, and it would work just as well. It’s just that Google Workspace apps are familiar to most users. But even then, the industry leader is Microsoft with their Office Suite which is yet another option
I just love that the dev is able to pump out updates pretty much daily. Getting anything reviewed on both the App Store and Play Store takes ages
A pretty good blog about the situation I think you should read - https://ploum.net/2023-06-23-how-to-kill-decentralised-networks.html
Please answer admin
What changes would I notice when this update goes through?
This would be ideal for me as well. I get that this is normal for an Apollo clone but I came from Boost of Reddit
I think it would be really cool if the upvote, downvote, reply etc options show up after you tap on a comment. And you can use the whole screen to swipe back to the previous page if we do this too. Thats how Boost did it, and how I expect Boost for Lemmy to work as well, so I think I’ll just move to that once it’s out instead.
Yes please!!!
Thirded
From what I understand about Lemmy, the only way to disable signups completely is by defederating. Meaning, you would not be able to view other communities from other Lemmy instances like .world or beehaw.
To get around this, you can switch to application signup like beehaw and just ignore/reject every application but this would also mean that anyone can view your instance as a guest. Like you can go to lemmy.world and view posts and comments without logging in
Atleast, that’s what I understand. Maybe someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
I’m not saying that the PWA is horrible, but I think a native app would be better too. Really, the only issue I have with it is the refresh rate. For some reason, the display randomly switches to 60hz, especially when sliding to go to the previous page.
Using the developer options to see the current refresh rate does not represent this, but you can clearly see it. I feel that a native app would be able to force 120hz throughout the app.
The only reason I say this is because, when first tried to install the PWA from Kiwi Browser which was pretty smooth but switched to 60hz here and there. I thought this was because of Kiwi Browser so installed the PWA from Chrome. When I did that, it was fully in 120hz only, completely unusable, so I went back to the Kiwi PWA
Edit: the refresh rate is fine while in Chrome browser, it’s only in the installed PWA that the refresh rate goes to shit. Anyone who has a 120hz display knows that even going back to 60hz for a second is jarring.
Pyenv to the rescue (although there are simpler ways to link
python
topython3
, you should just use pyenv
