Today’s game is The Last of Us Part II. I made it all the way through Abby’s Day 2 today. The high up tower section scared the fuck out of me because, i too am afraid of heights, and getting near the edge started doing some fuck ass things to the camera that made everything look tall. I noticed even outside of this section it does it and Abby’s breath kind of hitches in fear. It’s a detail that i love. Really makes you experience Abby’s fear of heights.

They do a good job of building that idea that this building you’re climbing is going to be tall as fuck too. They give you a decent number of camera shots of the tower so tall up that it’s covered by fog. So suffice to say, Naughty Dog for sure did a good job scaring the fuck out of me with this one.

The Rat King (I had to google that name) boss fight was a tough one, because i was already low on Ammo, and the damage it dealt was insane. Cut through my HP like butter and i’m pretty sure direct hits could 1-shot me. After a ton of tries though and some luck, i managed to kill it. I hope no more of those fuckers exist.

One last thing i wanted to show was that i found this table with either Non copyright infringing D&D or Warhammer on it. I thought it was a cool thing to see. Definitely a good way to pass the time during the End of The World.

I did have a great time playing TLoU2 with all the difficulty cranked up, EXCEPT for ally aggression set to super easy. This meant that while combat was more threatening, as long as I had a partner character with me, I felt like I had support and backup, and wasn’t alone in combat segments. Like I was really traveling with someone, rather than just having someone around to spout dialogue now and then.

This also meant that any time you’re alone, you feel it. When you’re alone you feel isolated and unsafe. Meant there was at least one alone encounter that was brutal, but also made the game more immersive. Highly recommend.

The Ally Aggression being on easy was a godsend for my Grounded run of 1, because that meant if I needed too I could hide in cover and let the Allies fight while I heal/reload/etc

Completely agree on the alone encounter too. I felt it a bit with Abby’s story on Normal, specifically the segment with all the Seraphites

Yeah the seraphites part wasn’t killer for me since with a little stealth you can take it at your own pace, but not long after that

        Spoiler

When you’re escaping the seraphite camp and making friends along the way, the survival section where they ditch you and there are just several waves of increasingly threatening infected nonstop with no room to breathe

was brutal. Took a bunch of tries for me.

I barely survived that bit in normal, i got lucky with some dodges and a shotgun blast. I’m not sure what i’m going to do on my Grounded run though
