I’d prefer decommodification of housing but UBI is probably a step in the right direction.

Oh. This happened to me as a kid, like, 20 years ago during the ADHD “No child left behind” scare. All the teachers wanted every problematic student to be put on Ritalin. They even had the pills on hand, no doctor on premises, and would try to use this secluded secret room and other coercion tactics to try and get kids to try Ritalin.
No one was fired or arrested, it was suggested in an anonymous letter to the editor that the “bad teachers be let go” when they built and opened a new elementary school building.
I’m sure you’ve heard this but just to reiterate, I’m super excited for this and I’m proud of you
Awesome! I’ll be checking it out, I love live streams and hate Twitch, got burnt out of the platform after watching for ~8 years.
We have approved so much more vigilantism than this. Your house is your castle in so much of the US.
Its not justo the value of the food. The value of the food is the value that the customer is willing to pay for food, which corresponds with the tip amount they can part with. However everything you’ve recommended is very thoughtful in its own right.
I think the problem is literal mobility and social mobility. The friction between me and having a social experience ia huge. I have to drive, pay money to be in a private business space, and it all has to be easy enough to make happen that I can do it alone. We mostly have businesses and activities that suit multiple people going together.
So I imagine if there were more parks, more kinds of public activities, there was transit where Im surrounded by people going to the same place who I can ask for advice - that would be a huge improvement.
Talked about linux in discord the other day and all the linux people were fucking annoying as shit about it
I think theres a good chance people will be more understanding about it. On Epstein’s original flight list, I xan only remember the names of people who visited a LOT. And even then, some of the people who only visited a few times turned out to be child molesters. So we can’t know for sure.
Well those crimes were ages ago. Who would prosecute them? Yeah, it won’t even go to trial. If they are guilty, which… Like you said, gonna be tough to prove. Rich people absolutely do better at every step of our legal system.
Saying “people are stupid so we shouldn’t have information” is so anti-humanist. Mob mentality. We have courts, why does public opinion matter? Its actually up to these important people to protect their image if its worth so much - but they don’t, they’re living their lives. Often with even less moral consideration than a regular guy.
And your call to wealth being a shield from danger? Bill gates seems to have lost his marriage over his involvement with Epstein. And that Prince guy in Britain, the rest of the royal family talks shit about him.
Thats the “nice guy” argument. Its transactional for them, not me. Im taking stock of how many people I can remember being especially randomly nice to, and wonder if I could have made a friend.
Wow they should reach out to me. Being randomly nice to people doesn’t actually give me a whole lot of social capital. Thats because it is a people pleasing behavior, and leaves one more vulnerable to social problems. I think, basically you feel you’re putting the effort in, but its spread out among many targets.
I think its a similar lack of social understanding to “nice guys” who expect you to be interested in them for their niceness. Right? And then they aren’t nice when it doesnt work. Well I am genuinely nice, but it still doesnt pay off, because being interesting to keep as company isnt just being randomly nice to people.
Red lining and white flight I imagine are alive and well in the state with the most segregated school system in the country. (Or is it just NYC that is the most segregated?) Policy choices continue to send black new yorkers down a worse path than white ones. Stop and frisk is here and now. I always felt that reparations for slavery would be best spent in the school system, but NY would really have to pull a lot more strings to correct for the second class citizenship caused by slavery. To be fair, I’m glad Hochul is trying to correct so many wrongs in her state. But I’m also angry that Eric Adams is in office right now.
Better the devil you know, I think McCarthy was more convenient for democrats than Mike Johnson, and that pissed off fascists whose careers will be just as short.
If you’re cold, they’re cold (picture of icebergs)
No I think twitch hosts all kinds of livestreams and hides behind the ides that they are all about gaming. Twitch maintains more style than other social media, but its just monopolizing one kind of social media post. Live streams.
Um. Why? I think Walmart and college football are both highly profitable and abusive enough that federal regulation should be hitting their business practices. But Twitter and twitch? Pre-elon, I think they both had an effective monopoly on their markets but weren’t visibly abusing that monopoly. They are, but its just not that damaging.
I wonder if it would be advantageous to make a community about live streaming now that Twitch has finally grown out of being a gaming platform. Justin TV was so much more diverse, live streams are so much more than just Twitch and the meta there. Edit: how some people feel about twitter is how I feel about Twitch. A company is making a genre of media uninteresting to me.
Seriously the press conference today was so bad. He was off-scriot because he got pulled back in to the current events discussion by journalists, but wow.
