Thanks for calling this out. I keep seeing political posts where the intent is clearly not to obtain answers but to obtain agreement. It makes me think that these people are attempting to karma farm.

Back on reddit, wasn’t there a rule that questions had to be genuine? ie, rhetorical posts (like we see now) are not allowed? Perhaps it would make sense to start enforcing such a rule

The question mark specifically turns it into passive-aggressive political whinging.

No, fuck no. It’s so annoying and I’ve been wanting to call it out, but technically that wouldn’t be answering the question.

Edit: … Although, when you think about it, the practice does seem a little stupid. But this place has no stupid questions.

Whinging eh? I read that similar to whinching or winging though I know you mean whining. If we’re tossing in question marks?

Whinge is a perfectly reasonable word

Shhh, you’ll confuse the Americans who have never bothered to know anything about the culture of one of their most ideologically similar allies who literally speak the same language.

We saw the beans on toast and and we left. 🤷‍♂️

j/k - the people in charge here are wild narcissists just like in the UK.

I never said the ideological similarities were good ones. Thatcher can rot in hell.

I’m not entirely sure I read your comment correctly, but it sounds like you’ve never heard the word “whinging” before.

For the avoidance of doubt, it’s a real word. It rhymes with “hinging”.

And in the UK at least it’s a distinct word and meaning from whining. In the US I think we just use “whining” for both meanings.
