If they think your potential mate or potential rival for mating. Is it too much of a waste of their time and effort?
Are you going to put out? Because if not this is just leading people on.
I eat birds, which is probably less ethical than this
Aren’t you Christian? Ethics are whatever you say God says they are.
It is not recommended using bird calls as it disturbs them: https://www.audubon.org/magazine/why-photographers-should-reconsider-using-playback-field
Aww, now I feel bad for whistling back
I mean, one thing is using recordings and another one is whistling. If you’re disrupting them then it’s just natural selection.
I’ve gotten a couple to get close enough to see.
I guess that’s evolution. Serves them right for trusting a human.
It’s generally frowned upon. Birds spend their lives collecting enough energy (food, water) to survive (find more food, defend territory, mate, etc). If a bird reacts to a fake call, it’s wasting energy that could’ve been used for something actually useful, which lowers the bird’s chance of survival.
you’re supposed to just watch the birds
That’s fucking with nature and we as a species fuck with it so much it’s probably better to not do things like this.
Yes. Maybe try feeders. Binoculars also work, but may require some patience.Doesn’t seem like you need to tease/antagonize them to be able to see them.
I mean hunters use them and blast them.
Not every mating call has to be for them, silly birds.
But hunters are specifically trying to call them in to shoot them. This is more like catch and release fishing, you are just making the bird late for something…
Your fault if you stare at the billboards while walking to work mate.
