Summary

Chad Chronister, Trump’s pick to lead the DEA, withdrew his nomination, citing the gravity of the role.

Chronister, a Florida sheriff, faced conservative backlash for actions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including arresting a pastor who violated lockdown orders, and for refusing to enforce federal immigration laws.

His withdrawal follows Matt Gaetz stepping back from a prior Trump nomination amid legal scrutiny.

Trump’s transition team, meanwhile, reached an agreement with the Justice Department to proceed with background checks for other administration appointments.

Isn’t it great that the only thing that has caused his nominees to drop out are either because they did something defended/held firm on the lock downstairs during covid, or had sex with a minor? So great.
