Even if the scientists go to the military sector that’s a boon for science. Military scientists often end up making things that get adopted all across society, GPS for example started as a military-only navigation aid. And technologies that can aid in giving medical aid to soldiers on the field can be adopted in hospitals.
Imagine what boons this will bring to Europe, when all the American scientists move over here.

Yes but most of the money spent on rearmament of Europe will be spent on equipment, not research. What will be needed are programs like: https://www.france24.com/en/europe/20250505-france-eu-us-scientists
They promised €500m. We’ll see if that’s enough.
