what? fuck off with this acab bullshit, it’s not all black and white, if there’s a knife fight in the neighbor’s house i’m calling the police, and i’m appalled that there’s someone who wouldnt.

what do you suggest, getting stabbed yourself? ignoring it and letting an innocent human being die? how would you even sleep with that at night?

the problem is they never check who’s who before they start shooting. there are numerous instances where the person who calls the police for protection is the one who gets shot.

so your choice is between a stabbing and a shooting. and a stabbing you might be able to run away from.

this sounds awfully similar to “man or bear”

just because police are uncompetent pigs who sometimes shoot the caller, doesn’t mean that in the majority of the cases they’ll shoot them.

And just because you have that 1% risk of getting wrongly shot (could be lower, pulled the number out of my ass) doesn’t mean you should try to face the very real and instant threat of another person trying to stab you.

          that 1% risk

In the context of the US, i’d say 1% is probably the percentage of actual competent, professional, relatively unbiased cops.

availability bias, there are so many traffic stops, checkups, calls, etc every day that go just fine and you never hear about, and of those that end in the news, BWCs have proven police right in most cases

and just as man vs bear, you have to be very privileged to not get why bear is the popular choice.

that doesn’t even make sense… having a functioning brain prevents you from understanding why the bear was a popular choice?

you know, if you have to express your disappointment/disagreement, you don’t have to comment without expanding the conversation further. downvote and move on.
