We’re in the world of “you are who you voted for” but also “you are (the most extreme among) who voted for you” so anyone in any group (among the opposition) is equated with the most extreme of that group and therefore just plain evil so must be opposed with maximum force. Mom and pop pickup truck from (rural red state) are actually just goose-stepping storm troopers poised to strike at any moment.

Well said! I can’t understand why everything these days thinks so black and white.
Let’s spend less time trying to label everyone as an extreme this or that and focus on uniting against a common enemy.
