    The uncomfortable pill is that at any point in the last many decades (ie: after abolishment of the draft) there was no good reason to join. WMDs? Known lie. Vietnam and not drafted? Known lie. (Tonkin was a lie)

    That GI bill part is so very true and sad. It’s on purpose, of course. Expensive college and poor people means … more fodder.

      The last honorable war we were in was WWII, anyone who signed up after the Korean war is a murderer.

        I would posit only portions of our behavior in ww1 and ww2 were honorable. Supporting the creation of zionist colonialism and nuking a couple cities is … not honorable. Also, I tried to say it and it may have come across odd but those drafted are prisoners compared to those who volunteered. They are not the same.

          Yeah, true, we definitely did some fucked up shit in the world wars, but at least I can respect the people who joined.

          Also, full sympathy to those who were drafted. I should have put more emphasis on “signed up”
